Most recently, a P227 in .38 Super.

I'd like to find a P228 in as good of shape as ihbwotrr has.

Someday...

Old, won't shoot straight, from a country that doesn't exist any longer (WEST, Germany), not plastic, can't put an optic on it. Not low drag. Get rid of it at your local gun buy pack. Or just give it to me.

I like the classic Sigs.
I carry a Sig 365 XL.

Sounds like a good one. Have you had a chance to shoot it yet?

If so, how do you think it compares to your P365?

Yes. In a Big River Leather elephant trimmed holster. Finest SIG ever.

I need to find some fine wood grips for it.

SIG made a 227 in .38 Super? I never heard that before. I thought the 227 only came in .45 ACP.

The P228 was my first love of Sigs but never got one.
Did however, do the P229 (and others) and it is still a great gun.
I still long for the rail-less version though but have that covered in P239, P220 and P226.
Also .. still more of a hammer fan than hammerless.

Thats a beauty there Q ^^^

P225s and P228s are still my favorite Sigs, the ergonomics and balance in the hand are just perfect for me.

Yeah, only decrepit old men own the P228 and the other hammer fired SA/DA models.

Count me as one. The only Sig handguns I own are the 226, 228, and the 229. I guess I'm anachronistic. Razz

First pistol I ever handled that felt perfect in my hand was the P228. It was in 1989'ish at a Rod & Gun Club in Wurzburg, W. Germany. I had a couple over the intervening years, but found a nice shooter W. German a couple years ago. I'd never part with it.

I've got three. A 1996, 1998 and a 1999. Sold my sweet West German marked 1994 a while back because I'm stupid. The 96 shoots the best but the other two are very close.

I have the same Nickel JK dated . What a beautiful pistol. I also have 3 P225s, including one in Nickel, I would love to have a rounded trigger guard like the P228 or 225-A1

I bought my 1991 P228 years ago with the sole purpose to give it to my daughter as a wedding present when the time came.
She is 28 now and she and her fiance just announced last week they are engaged to be married next year.

The first gun she ever shot at age 14 was a dirty rental P228 at a range in Dallas.
Her literal first shot with that gun.

Since then I was on the hunt to find one in great condition with the original box, mags, test target, and paperwork.
It took me a few years, but I found one, shot it once, and put it in the safe.
The night sights still have a touch of glow to them.

The future SIL gets one of my polished S&W 686+ Talo revolvers.
Bought it with the sole intention of giving it to him, whoever that was going to be, when I bought it years ago.

Great pick-up

One of my all-time favorite handguns.

I had a very nice CPO P228 years ago that was obscenely accurate. They really did a nice job refinishing it. (But then most of my firearms got sold off...including all of the Sigs)

Re-building now.

I only have a P225 these days.

Your 1st pic reminds me of the first shot I took with my new CZ75B! I was aiming at a 3/4” orange target sticker that had a small black diamond in the center. I ran the target out to 25’, fired the pistol, did not see a hit! What!!! My son reeled in the target, and we laughed at the perfect hit in that diamondSmile
