Well yall got me again! I have a gen 3 G20 but I really like the looks, upgrades and accuracy of the gen 5 guns. Been watching GB for a gen5 g20. The prices are going crazy. I finally found a new one for $799 so I snagged it. Of course by the time it got in my hands with fees, taxes, shipping… it was over $900 but I wanted it and they ain’t making it no more. I’m actually considering a red dot for it but have no idea what. I have not made the jump to red dots yet but thought this might be a good candidate because it will probably be used to take a deer this season, Lord willing. Any recommendations? ----------------------------------------- Roll Tide! Glock Certified Armorer NRA Certified Firearms Instructor

I’ve got a Holosun 509T on mine with an OPP titanium mounting plate. I wanted an enclosed optic on the gun since it will be used for woods carry here in Alaska and well it rains, it snows, it can get muddy. I also like the clamping action of the Holosun 509T in and I’m not concerned with plates and screws shearing which can be an issue with the Glock MOS system. The OPP plate is a very tight fit in the MOS system and there is zero gap or back and forth play in it. Another reason I went with the 509 was talking with a firearms instructor at Anchorage PD. The 509 is the only red dot sight they authorized for carry. They went through an extensive evaluation and beat on a lot of sights and the 509 came out on top. It is a little large and clunky, I definitely would not put it on something smaller like a Glock 19, but it works well on the 20 and I’ve been happy with it. I know the G20 is the standard in the segment, but I'd look at one of these as well: https://www.smith-wesson.com/p...10mm-m2-0-carry-comp https://www.smith-wesson.com/p...enter-mp-10mm-pistol IDPA ESP SS

My son just bought a S&W M&P 2.0 performance center carry comp. Whew, that’s a mouthful, anyway it’s a really nice pistol. Great ergonomics and the compensator does a pretty good job of taking some snap out of the recoil. No one's life, liberty or property is safe while the legislature is in session.- Mark Twain

I do have a magnum research 1911 in 10mm for a “cool gun” but Cslinger is right. The G20 will be hard to beat for all around durability and reliability. ----------------------------------------- Roll Tide! Glock Certified Armorer NRA Certified Firearms Instructor

The standard pistol for 10mm up here is the Glock 20, followed by the 29. The 29 makes a much better carry gun, especially when you're saddled with the other weight, gear, etc. It also gives you the option to better CCW it and when you're in the woods and want more capacity, stuff a 15rd G20 mag in it. All that said, I carry a Sig P220 Elite stuffed with hard cast loads. I just prefer the Sig over the Glock, for a variety of reasons. The longer heavier 220 also handles the heavy 10mm like a charm, pleasant even.
