Got sick of waiting for Glock to come out with a factory “26L”, so I put one together myself, and I’m very happy with the results. I stumbled on Hooper Gun Works, and typed in their search bar “26L” and they had complete slide asmys available. It originally had a bare stainless barrel, but during the checkout process in the notes area I asked if a black barrel could be substituted. After fast shipping it showed up, and the product is well made. It is listed for a Gen ¾ model platform. So I used a donor G27 Gen4 that I’ve carried for years. I swapped out the ejector and housing for an appropriate 9mm Gen4 version and put the pistol together. I had an extra set of Ameriglo Protector series night sights to replace the plastic sights on the HGW slide. The slide is stainless steel, and has an RMR cut if you wanted to add a Tumor. Yesterday I had some time so I ran over to an indoor range around the corner and put 100 rounds of 115 & 124 RN through it, no issues. I brought a few different JHP’s and defensive rounds I had and fed everything effortlessly. The gun shoots softer than a G26, and the 15yd group was 1 ragged hole. Very happy with this so far. I’ll shoot a Club Match or two with it once the weather gets a little warmer to get some more rounds through it but looks like a winner so far! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Very nice. I had a Gen3 G26 for years, and really did like that gun. I never looked into doing this, but am I understanding correctly that a factory G19 slide can't just be dropped onto a G26?

From the “test” I did a few years ago I would say no. Now I forget if I compared Gen3 guns or Gen4 guns, it was probably Gen4, and the main issue was a mismatch of the slide rails distance between them compared to the slide rail cuts on the slide. The slide rail cuts were not continuous, and had a relief cut which gave no support for at least one side forward slide rail on the G26 grip frame I was using. I did get the adapter to cover the recoil spring dust cover (Lone Wolf I think). But that was just cosmetic and didn’t resolve the rail support issue. Now I’m sure back then I was comparing factory Glock parts. Who knows if an aftermarket brand slide had those same relief cuts along the slide rails? If not then it would probably work no problem. On this HGW “26L” slide, the slide rails are continuous and the dust cover is extended to match the 26 frame profile. I put another 200 trouble free rounds if FMJ through it yesterday at the outdoor range and this thing is really growing on me!

I’m still hoping for a 26x. (26 upper on a 19 frame)

Yeah, been wanting that for years. Q

That looks great and I’ve always wanted one.

The 43X basically gives you that 26X type combo, just in a thinner package

^^^^ "Basically" does not mean "equally". 10 rounds (G43x) vs 15 rounds (G19). Sure, get the Shield Arms 15-rounder and all that, but that's not factory, plus you have to shell out extra money. Q

Me too. With a rail so I can hang a TLR7 sub on it like on the 43X. _________________________ "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than omnipotent moral busybodies" ~ C.S. Lewis

This might make my wish list. The orig 26 is too short and too fat.

I also asked HGW for a black barrel but I got no response. When I asked for a specification on the guide rod and spring, I got no response. The HGW complete upper arrived with with a silver barrel. I was disappointed the provided sights don't co-witness with a Holosun 507c and sadly one of the optic screws won't stay tight (even with Locktight). I've decided to order an RXM slide which has a better optic mounting system and great sights. I've also decided to bite the bullet and order the LWD SLIDE ADAPTER for $60 as I don't want my next G26L build to look half-baked. ![]()

Also, no issues with the screws tightened dried up. Even though there is no plate used, the 407/507 Won’t give you co-witness unless you use taller suppressor height sights. ![]()

Nice, I like how you've also done some work to make room for your knuckle. I'm certainly torn, as I really like the stock-look of the HGW slide. If they were willing to respond I'd be much more enthusiastic about using their slide. I ordered a factory MOS slide for my Gen3 G17. They also sell factory Gen3 G19 slides (for folks in California). Although I'd prefer something less flashy than the RXM slide, I like how Ruger answers the phone, and their optic mounting system seems better than anything else on the market.

Now that it is possible to order an OEM Gen3 MOS slide (in California) and you can put both a Gen3/5 G19 MOS or G26 Gen5 MOSS slide on a Gen3 G26, folks have more options to have an optic-ready slide with more consistency.

This RXM G26L is coming together nicely (with 2D3D dust cover). I was really looking forward to evaluating the RXM optic mounting system, and this pairing was my only option in California. ![]()
