Congratulations on your retirement. Just as one chapter of your life is closing, another is beginning. I wish you well and the chance to kick back and enjoy it.

Retired from full time in 2016, worked PT until covid and the riots started. My ankle gun and detail gun was my G27. TBH I never carried off duty. I recently picked up a 365SAS. Since it's winter I carry it in a leather belt slid holster. When the warm weather hits I'll get an inside the pocket rig.

I didn't retire from Oakland, CA PD, resigned after 10 years to run a company I'd started on the side a couple of years prior (it was making more money than me). On duty, a Colt Python. For the past 10 years a Sig P229 DA/SA in 40. Congratulations on your retirement! Enjoy!

Retired in 2016 after 30 years, parked the Glock and went with a S&W 360PD and some old school speed loaders, couldn't be happier.

Congrats! Now get yourself a fine holster to go with that! Personally, I'm my preferences run to IWBs by either Milt Sparks, Tim Thurner (TT Gunleather), and Ryan Grizzle. All three offer great options to carry a 1911 type pistol in comfort as well as being well concealed. Looking at retiring in April 2023...yes, just a couple months away! I will have 41 years in between being a Military Cop and Civilian Cop. I am looking at getting a job as a Court Bailiff. My retirement carry will probably be similar to my current off duty carry. I was a Glock 26/43x/48 guy but have moved away from them to primarily Sig P365s and revolvers. My usual carry if I am in or traveling through questionable areas (which is really anywhere in St. Louis County now) is: 1. Sig P365x Macro Slide on Wilson Combat XL frame with 12 round magazine +1 in chamber in IWB holster (3 or 4 o'clock position) with a 17 round magazine for reload and usually my Sig P365 with 10+1 magazine on my ankle. Yes, I usually carry two pistols even off duty. 2. Revolvers: Either Kimber 6s 3 inch or S&W 640 Pro in OWB or IWB holster (depending on weather and jacket length) with S&W 442 in an excellent Alessi ankle holster with a couple 8 round speed strips of .38+P (and a speed loader of .357mag).

14 years to go.... What are the laws there regarding carrying? I'd assume that you have to qual with it once a year. What did you carry before you retired when you were off? I'd probably stick with the same thing. Now it's either a G27 Gen 3, or a S & W Shield 9mm. Both carried IWB. Looking REAL hard at a P365 though.... Maybe once I get the new computer built. Strive to live your life so when you wake up in the morning and your feet hit the floor, the devil says "Oh crap, he's up."
