I picked this up last year.
I got it from an auction site that does a lot of business in European pistols not brought in through regular channels.
Nothing unsavory, just not the average beat to heck Beretta 84 from Bill's Surplus or an ex Israeli prison guard High Power knock off.
It's "W, German" marked P-226, 9mm, no date code, standard proof marks on the chin, sticker on the box is in German, the US mag is one I had around, not what it came with. Barrel is 25mm longer, with the barrel weight fixed to it.
Front sight is doevetailed onto the weight, rear target sight is LPA, both are taller than standard.
I tried image search, but no matches, it just shows other 226s or sometimes an X-line pistol with an under the barrel weight.
Has anyone seen one like this before or know where I could find more information on it?
I've been "into" Sigs for almost 40 years, this is the first one like this I've seen.
Thanks.

Neat! I don’t recall one of those, either. There are far more knowledgeable folks here who will chime in.

Can't say that I've seen one either, but it looks good either way.

Welcome to the forum!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say it's aftermarket mod by one of the well known euro gunsmiths.

It does have the ulm proof mark and the barrel is marked as 9mm Laser (something).

It is interesting that there is no front sight on the slide. I had only seen one other folded slide made with adjustable sights, but that one had the taller sight cast on the front and a Bo-Mar adjustable rear mounted directly to the breech block.

Let us know what you ultimately find out.

I have no problem with that, except how could they be considered "well known" if they're unknown here?
Wink
Looking at the inletting of the foam, at the muzzle end it appears more material was removed to accommodate possibly a P-220/226 Sport, and seems about half of the Sports have the front sight mounted on the slide and the others mounted on the comp, so that could explain the reason the slide was not dovetailed for the front side.

I forgot about the barrel marking. How in the world were you able to see that?
LaserCon, and also a 96 above it with a crest and what looks like a single antler proof.

Looking through, I found this thread from a couple weeks back:

Identical case, including the sticker.

That X-Line case didn't appear until the second half of the first decade of this century. The gun, with that serial number, points to a 1995 production, so should have the KF date code on the chin of the slide. Factory SIGs were proofed at Kiel. There should be their proof house symbol also on the chin of the slide. The fact that the barrel says 96, with the Ulm proof house symbol (the antler), indicates aftermarket mod and proof. Of course, there is no way to know which gunsmith did the mods. I was just pointing out there are well known German gunsmiths who modify firearms. Oschatz and Frankonia are two that come to mind.

I got it. Appreciate the input. It might explani why no image search is able to pull up another.
So, German Bubba had it, eh, and sent it off for a make over? Der Deustche Bubba.Thank goodness he didn't know about Tapco or MagPul.

Have you had a chance to take the barrel out and check the left side of the barrel hood to see if there is the serial number there, and if there is, is it of the exact same font as the numbers on the frame and slide? If there is none, or if the font doesn't match, then that's another indication it's aftermarket. I'm sorry for missing the part where you said there is "no date code...on the chin".

Btw, is that the trigger stop I'm seeing, or it's just my eyes paying trick on me?

Set screw in the trigger. You could do this professionally.
I'm not able to remove the barrel weight and slide right now.
Hand/wrist and fore arm surgery several weeks back, I'm effectively one handed for the very near future, but I will check that when I'm able.
Fortunately, most of my internet postings were "hunt and peck" before surgery, so not handicapped in that.
Much appreciated.
