Depends on the platform. For the M14/M1A they are the go-to for example. For the Beretta 92/M9 they've been problematic over the years but IME are generally functional.

As long as you stay away from the parkerized ones and play over in the Middle East, those Checkmate mags are fine. Still, I'd spend a little more and get MecGars (especially for 2011 mags).

They work depending on the gun?

My checkmate mags work in my staccato c2 and prodigy but do not work in my apollo 11.

I seem to remember some feeding issues and rough or sharp feed lip issues when Sig first started using them but from what I remember those issues were corrected but many seemed to flip them when they would get them with a new gun purchase.

I have several 45acp & 9mm-1911 mags that have been flawless though.

I use them all the time. The P226, P320, 1911, and M1A magazines are good to go. Check-Mate is an OEM supplier to Colt for 1911 magazines for decades.

I also have a bunch of the military issue Beretta M9 magazines, never had an issue with those as well, but I don't live in the desert.

Mine work great in my Kimber 2K11 Pro.

I've never had issue with my Checkmate 1911 10mm mags. But they are only used for slow, methodical shooting with no reloads at speed. So fine for what I use them for, but only rates about 45% on the trust meter.

My Checkmate magazines were all either M1A or 1911, but they worked perfectly.

When I deployed to Iraq in 04-05 the bad reputation of the rough heavily phosphated beretta mags was well known. So much so I brought my own personal beretta factory mags with me. Even still with all the sand storms and road dust, I unloaded and cleaned my beretta mags almost daily to keep them going.

All my 1911 magazines by Checkmate are 100% functional. They are several years old.

I have had great results with the 7-round KimPro .45 magazines which are Checkmate made.
Not currently running a .45 in my collection though.
Also I have had and continue to have good luck with the Checkmate made Kimber 9-round 9mm 1911 mags in 2 different 9mm 1911’s.

It’s been 8-10 years so things may have changed, but I had nothing but trouble with several Checkmate magazines in my P226, and I don’t think I could get a single one of them to work in my gun. FTF, you name it I experienced it. This in a gun with probably 7K rounds through it with virtually zero failures with Mec Gars.

So as far as I’m concerned I will never buy a Checkmate mag again. Only Mec Gars for me. Ironically this thread caught my eye because I just finished ordering two new mags from TGS not 15 minutes ago.
