Does anyone have experience with the new TLR-1/TLR-7 HL-X models and their holsters?

I know the bezels on the newer HL-X lights are longer than their predecessors, and so the new HL-X lights won't fit in holsters molded for the older shorter TLR-1HL or TLR-7A. But are the other dimensions the same?

That is, if I buy a holster molded for the HL-X model, will the older generation lights work in that holster as well, just with a gap of a fraction of an inch in front of the lens? (Kinda like sticking a G19 in a G17 holster and leaving a gap at the muzzle.)

Or are there other dimensional differences in length/width/height of the body that render them non-compatible?

Depends on the holster. Only difference between the TLR 7HL on my duty weapons and the TLR 7X on my G19 is the length of the bezel. I have one holster for a G17 with a Tlr7a that fits my G47 with the HL just fine because they carried the molding for the light all the way out to the muzzle. I had another one that I made work by hitting the end of the holster with a heat gun to soften it enough to open up the tunnel for the end of the light. The Safariland duty holsters I have all work with both lights.

If it’s leather and it’s cut to cover the end of the 7a, it’s probably not going to work.

My TLR1HLX fits in holsters made for the TLR1HL. But I have only tested this in Safariland duty holsters (6/7 series)

My TLR7HLX does NOT fit in holsters made for the 7/A/FLEX.

Now the TLR-7sub and subHLX are using the same body so they should fit.

Not minority enough!

Not surprising, in the Safariland gun buckets. I'm more thinking of specifically molded kydex holsters.

But does it work the other way around, is my question...

Does your gun with a TLR7A work in a kydex holster molded for the TLR7HLX, with proper retention?

Yes, I bought TLR7 HLX holsters and my old backup G19 with a standard TLR7 works just fine.

Found a TLR7 in my junk bin and it does work in my kydex holster for the 7hlx.
