I missed out on a 645 early in my handgun career, and still regard it as the one that got away. It's the only gun that I have ever seen that I wish I bought the first day I saw it. I went back the next day, and it was gone.

Have a 4046 and a 4043, Just picked up a 5946 off gunbroker for 360 bucks. The nights sights were dead so the slide took a trip back to Trijicon this week.

Mine are all Performance Center variants, but I've owned quite a few standard 3rd gen models in the past. I like them all.

Wonder if this is another bunch of trades from Israel?

Very likely, since the condition and the Century Arms import mark are consistent with previous batches of reimports known to be from Israel.

A bit of a trivia question, but did the third-generation S&W pistols belong to the group of early stainless steel pistols that had galling (and other longevity) issues?

I've lusted after a 6906 for so stinkin' long but something else always seems to come along and take my money. I loved the 4006 I was issued way back when and I should've picked up the 6906 when you could get the trade in's for sub 300.

Hater of fun since 2001!

About 25 years ago, I lucked into a 6906 and was so jazzed about it. I had a 3913 (same gun, but a single stack) and was looking forward to the additional capacity. Unfortunately, the thicker grip completely changed the geometry of handling that gun. It felt like the trigger pull would never end before it finally broke. I could not shoot the 6906 with any comfort or accuracy to save my soul. It was gone after 500 rounds or so. Still have the 3913 and still love it.

Honestly, I understand. The 3rd generation S&W are my favorite guns ever. Every time I take my 6906 or 5906 to the range I get asked about them. They look and feel great. I carried the 6906 as a backup and then when I made Detective. I left LE and forgot about shooting in 1997. 5 years ago I started shooting again and the bug caught me hard. I was die hard S&W back then. Now, it is mostly HK and Sig. The new S&W are still fine guns but don’t do anything for me.

This was a local pickup about a year ago...no magazine, but I was able to track down a S&W mag right after I bought a Promag, so now I have 2 mags for the gun

Well, no... Since 1 of your 2 mags is a ProMag and therefore a POS, you have 1 mag for your 3914. Wink

Surprisingly, it ran in the gun without any issues (for now)

I never knew they made a gun in Maine. I never even heard of Houlton before. Pretty cool to own one. Out of curiosity I did a little digging. Attached is an interesting read.

The last Mexican 5906TSW I saw went for over $5K at auction many years ago.

I am happy with my CHP4006TSW, I am trying to find a 5906TSW slide and barrel (regular 5906 wont work).

S&W are giving away five 3rd Gen guns from April 1-8.
