| Raised Hands Surround Us Three Nails To Protect Us |
I have shot LOTS of Aguila 22 in numerous varieties and 9mm as well with zero issues. Took out the ol’ Lama 6” .22 revolver and Browning Buckmark yesterday. Loaded up the Llama and fired all six rounds no problemo. However I found the shot to be much louder and deep in tone than .22s as usual. I would usually describe them as a high pitched crack easily describable as a .22. These were a little deeper in sound. Ohh well opened the cylinder and hit the plunger and moved slightly and then it would not budge. I gave the plunger a gentle tap on the bench and still no dice. Held the gun upward and shook slightly and the cases would not come out. Tried hooking them a bit with a finger nail and absolutely nothing. We were at an indoor range in a tiny lane and time counting down. So moved onto the Buckmark and the gun would not feed properly. Magazine seemed not to push the next round up. Shook it a little it would finally load. Figured the mag was just sticking. Tried 3 other mags with the same issue and then. About 10 rounds or so in. The case would not eject. Same thing could not get it out with a fingernail our a gentle tap. Ohh well put the 22s up for the day. Got done and started thinking and remembered that the Buckmark mags did not feel right when loading. Normally pull the follower all the way down drop in the 10 rounds and the follower slides up smoothly holding the rounds in place. I had to push the follower up with my thumb and was still met with resistance. Get the guns home and I took a little pick and could not get the stuck cases to budge. Finally stuck a cleaning rod down the muzzle of the Buckmark and the front of the cylinder on the revolver. It took a pretty strong amount of force with the rod to get the casing to come out. I am guessing the cases are out of spec. Need to find my calipers and compare. Or maybe they are loaded a little hot which is why they sounded weird and the cases expanded way more than normal. I bought 10 boxes of that Aguila. Guess When I get a chance I’ll take some measurements. ———————————————— The world's not perfect, but it's not that bad. If we got each other, and that's all we have. This is the sort of report that’s very useful here. Based on watching many videos on the subject, Aguila ammunition seems to have a very good reputation, and like all the laudatory reviews of sights made by our current wartime enemy, I can’t imagine that their manufacturers had any way of influencing those reviews or would be motivated to do so. That doesn’t mean, of course, that all those ammo reviews were dishonest, but it is interesting that you had such obvious and significant problems after your previous experiences with the line. If one type of ammunition is of obvious high quality and another is a disaster, then at least it demonstrates that the company has inconsistent quality control issues. Thank you, and I would be interested in any future reports. ► 6.0/94.0 “I can’t give you brains, but I can give you a diploma.” — The Wizard of Oz

Thanks for that report. Would you happen to know the lot numbers? My Glenfield Model 25 absolutely loves Aguila Super Extra 40gr, and I do occasionally buy the standard stuff for other guns. To date I've never had a problem. ----------------------------------------------------------- Any comments made by this poster are my own and do not reflect the views or opinions of my employer.

A few buddies with precision rifles stated they had various cycling and accuracy issues with Aguila. You won't find Aguila in my ammo inventory.
