Just curious. In an admittedly non-exhaustive search, I see plenty for 5-inch pistols, but not for 16-inch-barreled rifles (Ruger LC Carbine), at least not current. I typically use FN or Fiocchi with 40-grain "ballistic tip" bullets. These are ~1600-1700 fps from a pistol. You can get subsonic 62.grain from Fiocchi for suppressor use, and 35- and even 27-grain hollowpoints from FN as well. The latter two are nearly a buck and a half a shot and may be more suitable for pistols.

You're right, took a while, but I found some:

"I have chronographed both. My son has a FN PS90. With the Hornady 35 gr. V-Max velocities were in the 2500 to 2600 fps range dependent upon the load. This is with a 16" bbl."

"Here are the velocities, projectile weights, and resulting muzzle energies of the 5.7x28mm ammunition types when fired from the P90, PS90 and Five-seveN, along with some other more basic data that people new to the 5.7 should find helpful."

^^^ Thanks!

From the OP of that thread:
quote:
The reason I'm asking is because when reading about the round it's often described as being similar to a slightly hot .22 magnum.

The PS90 with its 16-inch barrel is closest to my Ruger. This was my guess, but it's nice to see some verification.

Not too long ago I said I had no use for 5.7 in anything. This little Ruger changed my mind. (It helped that I got it used for ~$200 off retail.) With the stock - adjustable over a 2-inch range as well as folding - fully extended, it is only ~30 inches long. What little recoil it has is from the full pound of steel breech blocks slamming back and forth. The ammo is not terribly high priced any more, and nobody is going to want to stand in front of it. In addition to the OEM flip-up aperture sights, it now has a Holosun reflex.

This load is supposed to be subsonic for use with suppressors. That figure is skirting the edge of supersonic, but would be less in a 5-6-inch pistol.
