Due to old age, looking to use a .380 pistol.

What is a good ammo for a .380?

I load Winchester Silver Tips in both of mine. They function 100% in my guns.

For defense, Lehigh Defense or Underwood (which load LD bullets into their cases.

I should've asked if you reload. Makes a big difference.

I have good luck with the Federal Hydra-shok deep. Gel tests are promising, more so than most other rounds.

What size pistol are you using? I really like the offerings from Buffalo Bore. They have standard pressure rounds and +P rounds.

When I pocket carried a very small .380, I used the +P rounds, with the first three rounds being hollow points, followed by their hard cast bullets.

As you know, the .380 round can be a bit anemic, so I wanted the velocity of the +P rounds and the penetration of the hard cast bullets. But, I haven’t ever been recoil sensitive. If you’re carrying a very small pistol you may want to stick to the standard pressure rounds. And I do recommend the hard cast bullets, as penetration is more important than expansion in that caliber.

I've had no issues with Hornady's Critical Duty .380 ammo (I think the Critical Defense is the same) in my LCP II or Bodyguard 2.0

I know it's been a while since this was asked, but I carry the Fed HST in my Bodyguard 2.0
99 grain bullet, so if it doesn't expand it will at least penetrate some and easy to shoot in that gun which has replaced my P365 for summer carry.
