Why is .30-.30 Winchester ammo so hard to find and expensive. Just found some at Roger's Sporting Goods for about $34 per box of 20 (Winchester 100 year anniversary 150 grain).

Ammo in general is hard to find and expensive right now.

And manufacturers have focused their production lines on the highest demand calibers (9mm, .45, .223, .308, etc.), making it even harder to find other less popular calibers.

I suspect that .30-30 specifically hits that middle ground between high enough demand to mean there's plenty of people quickly snatching up what's available, but not high enough demand to justify production priority by the manufacturers.

It's not an obscure caliber by any means, but it's not one of the Top 10 or so calibers.

That is cheap, last time I saw it posted on the web it was $80 to $100 per box.. Oh the horror...

Just a quick follow-up. I'm in Colorado and the local Walmart had boxes of Winchester 30-30 for $18. I bought the last box. They also had boxes of 500 22lr for $25. Looks like things are getting better.

Ammunition manufacturers are still catching up from all the panic buying, meaning they are concentrating on producing 9mm, .380, .38 Special, .223 and other high demand calibers (including .22 LR, I suppose). Production of lower demand calibers has been given lower priority or halted altogether for the time being.

If you have a qauntity of fired cases, my recommendation would be for you to reload for your lever gun.

The Anniversary box is going to be a bit higher than regular ammo.
