Check out a Ka-Bar. Fairly inexpensive. I’ve had mine for about 12 years, it has held up well, and it has been abused. Sheath holds up as well. Mainly use it as a camp axe, but I’ve also grilled meat over an open fire on it.
"Nature scares me" a quote by my friend Bob after a rough day at sea.

I've got a 10" Condor Tool Kukri, it's a workhorse for sure. Used it camping and around the property clearing brush and hacking stuff up

I’ve got a Himalayan Imports villager. It chops like you wouldn’t believe. Sadly, it’s kind of a one trick pony as it isn’t good for much else. It has taken an ungodly amount of abuse over the years and just keeps on going. I love the thing and it goes camping and has served to trim more than a few tree branches around the house. It wouldn’t however be my first choice in a “the world is ending and you can only have one knife” situation. This message has been edited. Last edited by: copaup,

I guess I’m leaning toward the Ka Bar unless anyone else has a suggestion.
