Best wishes. As others have said, my mom had surgery for this at 69. Resection with feet lost. Going strong, this stinks but you’ll be ok.

P226RN, I'll wish the best for you.
My dad had both events and survived with no lasting problems other than a careful diet to decrease the chance of a flair-up of diverticulosis.

I know what you are going through, it happened to me many years ago. Luckily I avoided a temporary colostomy, I had to argue with the surgeon, he wanted to do it right away because he said it won't go away without surgery.
Well, I proved him wrong.
Hope you get better quick and avoid that surgery. Hang in there!

Saturday update. Continuing to improve and they are trying clear liquids and maybe something a step above that for lunch. If I can tolerate those then I should get to go home on antibiotics etc. I am so grateful for your prayers and am guarded but hopeful!!
Thank you all so much. T

I also suffer from diverticulitis, however not as severe as yours.
Be VERY aware of your diet.
Nuts, seeds, popcorn, etc are vorbotten.
Hope a complete and speedy recovery is yours.

Oh, she'll get morphine, alright... The jello? They'll hold off on that for a day or two. Dear Lord, by the time I got to have jello, it tasted GREAT, if that's saying anything...
And, yes, she WILL pull through, heck, they're probably better at it now then they were a decade ago!

They offered morphine and dilaudid but I am stubborn and tough so I have just been on toradol.
