The success of a solution usually depends upon your point of view |
Are you really trying to insinuate that the culture at Evergreen was intentionally created to serve the higher purpose of preventing the use of the military for social experiments so we should all support it? Is "Do it for national security" replacing "Do it for the children"? “We truly live in a wondrous age of stupid.” - 83v45magna "I think it's important that people understand free speech doesn't mean free from consequences societally or politically or culturally." -Pranjit Kalita, founder and CIO of Birkoa Capital Management

Sounds like a great place to work or send your kids to school - it's nice to know colleges like this are helping to move society forward out of the shackles of the past. Donald Trump is not a politician, he is a leader, politicians are a dime a dozen, leaders are priceless.

"Born without a spine" That's damn right. What a complete pussy. Get the fuck over yourselves, and try to remember why you enrolled in college. No one gives a shit if you're gay or a minority. No. One. Cares. Figure it out- you are not at all important.

Pretty much just a freak show at that place. The freaks are just to blinded by their self righteous delusions to even see it. I can only hope that a smack down is coming when they graduate. Pissants.

Is there a demand in the business place for white space majors? Elk There has never been an occasion where a people gave up their weapons in the interest of peace that didn't end in their massacre. I guess the new school year yielded negative results "At Evergreen State College in Olympia, Wash., last year left-wing students called for a day for whites to stay off campus. But a professor -- well known as a progressive -- publicly criticized the move. The response was threats and physical intimidation by students. Administrators decided to suspend classes for several days. As at Missouri, the school administrators were assailed for allowing a group of overzealous students to call the shots. Now Evergreen State has experienced a decline in enrollment that has resulted in a $2.1 million budget shortfall, forcing the liberal arts school to announce layoffs. The blow to the school’s enrollment and finances is seen as stemming, at least in part, from the showdown. The general consensus was that [the enrollment decline] was because of the aftermath of what happened in November, 2015. There were students from both in the state and out of state that just did not apply, or those who did apply but decided not to attend." update on Evergreen https://hotair.com/archives/20...illion-plan-layoffs/ Evergreen State College To Cut Budget By $5.9 Million, Plan For Layoffs Evergreen State College plans to cut its budget by $5.9 million next year, which amounts to 10% of the schools total budget, in anticipation of declining enrollment As dramatic as this sounds, enrollment next year could drop much more than 10 percent. In February, President Bridges warned next year’s enrollment could drop by up to 700 students from a student body of 3,800. That would represent a decline of 18.5 percent. Bridges framed that as worst-case-scenario but clearly, a 10% decline, while well shy of the worst case, is still very significant. https://youtu.be/-st73zhZL3A

"Weinstein drew ire from students when he pushed back against a call to change the tradition of minority students and faculty holding their annual Day of Absence.. those participating meet off campus to discuss campus issues and how to make the college more supportive of all students -- and at the same time, they hope their lack of presence is felt. Similar ideas were the inspiration behind events like “day without immigrants” protests, where immigrants closed shop to protest anti-immigrant political rhetoric, while at the same time highlighting how much everyday society depends on them and their labor. The wrinkle to last year’s Day of Absence, however, was that white people were called to (voluntarily) stay off campus. Weinstein, who is white, objected. "There is a huge difference between a group or coalition deciding to voluntarily absent themselves from a shared space in order to highlight their vital and underappreciated roles ... and a group encouraging another group to go away," Weinstein wrote on a campus email list. "The first is a forceful call to consciousness, which is, of course, crippling to the logic of oppression. The second is a show of force, and an act of oppression in and of itself." https://www.insidehighered.com...es-500000-settlement The crux of the "Day of Absence" was that whites were not welcome on campus. Even fellow travelers were told not to be on campus. Students that had paid for classes, meals and housing were bared from using them. While the military uses evaluations rather then grades, there is much more attention paid to assignments, schooling and education. The evaluation process at Evergreen seems more a quid pro qu. The professor knows his job is depended on how the students rate him. It's even in a faculty manual http://www.evergreen.edu/policy/exemptevaluation In the military a bad evaluation is a career ender, something that is doubtful at Evergreen. Failure in command, or a bad performance in an assignment also can end careers. I'm pretty certain that few of us would receive positive evaluations from the school. “ The work of destruction is quick, easy and exhilarating; the work of creation is slow, laborious and dull.

OK, so, where's the housekeeping? Where's the mention of the University expelling a few students pour encouragere les autres, going after anyone espousing violence for any reason, weighting student evals according to the school's needs for a few years and just basically doing whatever they have to in order to regain control of the campus?
