-22F with wind chill -49F. Furnace has not cycled off for a couple hours but house holding at 72. Forecast calling for -28F tonight but less windy. I am pretty sure this is coldest I have ever seen in my 67 years. Hope everyone and their families keeps safe.

So this is what I woke up to this morning. Stupid cold...I plugged the car in last night (points for installing a block heater!) and it was still not happy to start this morning.

I had to PRESS the brake pedal just to get the ignition to engage. F-this.

Thank God for remote starters! Started my truck as I went to bed last night at 11 PM.
Had guzzled a water at 9 PM, so I woke up as planned at 2:30 AM, and started it again.
Woke up at 6:30 AM, and started it again.

Every 4 hours seems good enough to prevent it from freezing.

I really need to replace my garage, so I can actually park inside someday.

Thanks to your post, and a show I watched that highligted on keeping vehicles running in Siberia, I went out to start my car. It barely did, after five hours of sitting.

Debating sleep versus listening to her idle for several hours.

Sitting at -29° with windchill of -56°. Our county pulled plows yesterday as they couldn’t keep up with all of the drifting. Almost like a ghost town right now.

Yep, -19 currently not counting wind chill. Got sent home at 1 yesterday, as they decided to close. No work today, due to temps. Starting later tomorrow unless things change. Hubby still had to go in to his job. Will have to see if my vehicle starts up today.
Just checked wind chill... -45 And only letting dog to do his business, come right back in. Not that he wants to be out longer anyway. He’s no dummy.

It's a balmy -26*F, and winds have died down so the wind chill is sitting at -52*F

I let it idle for 15 minutes, enough to get it to operating temp, then ran the heater to make sure coolant was circulating, then shut it off.

Repeat every three hours.

Since it's still -24 I guess I have to keep doing it for a while more.

Worked last night. Saw -23. Got home and the house was 50 furnace apparently took most of the night off. Allegedly fixed now, but it's taking forever to get back up to temp. Back to work in a couple hours.

...forecast for Sunday is 49 above. Over a 70 degree swing in five days.
