Just checked and it's -13 below and -40 windchill.

Depending on what source you check, our record low was -58/-60 set back in 1936. Appears global warming has been around for a long time. Smile

When I was up north (further up north) with one of my best friends a couple weekends ago we spent a morning clearing the brush away from the sides of the two-tracks going to his cabin. A few inches of snow on the ground (snow's been light up here this season), temps somewhere in the high teens to low twenties, overcast, calm winds.

Didn't take long before I got so warm I dumped the tri-season jacket I'd been wearing. So: Light-weight thermal underwear, warm socks, jeans, flannel shirt, pile watch cap, boots and gloves, and I was GTG. Almost too warm, even then.

Yikes.

For only the 2nd time in the 13 years that I’ve been with the company, they’ve told us to not come in tomorrow due to the frigid weather.

Only other time they closed up shop was the snowpocalypse we had around this time 5 or 6 years ago, and got 28” of snow overnight... and they only closed down for one shift that time!

They’re shutting down at midnight tonight, and opening back up at 6am Thursday.

Where on earth do you live!?

I'm gonna guess Fargo ND
I'm guessing Frostbite Falls, Minnesota.

I am in International Falls! We broke a record Saturday, -46F. It is nuts to think I grew up in Florida and moved here 20+ years ago, lol!

At Angle Inlet, where I've led Facebook to believe I live, it's currently -32F. Here in S.E. Mi. it's a balmy 5F and falling. The predicted high tomorrow is -3F. Mmmm... Bracing!

Single digits tonight here, with lows down to -5 tomorrow, wind chills -25 or more, 3-6" of snow predicted. I have a fire going in my wood burning insert, with lots of seasoned oak, black locust and ash firewood stacked in the garage. Nothing we can't handle.

In Missouri, IA, and NE they are not delivering mail...nor rain, nor sleet......

We also have all the schools cancelled. I know it is not safe out there, it I don’t recall ever getting school cancelled for cold growing up. Snow yes, but not cold....

Already -7F here. I told dear wife I would drive her to work tomorrow if she wants so she would not have to deal with finding parking, scraping windows, etc. It is supposed to be -24F when she leaves for work and -17F when she gets off work. So glad I replaced 26 year old furnace/AC with new last summer. I would be a nervous wreck about now worrying about it. New furnace with variable speed ECM blower keeps all upstairs bedrooms cool in summer and warm this time of year. I just had to turn down humidity a bit. 25% inside and starting to see a little condensation on some windows.

Currently in Milwaukee, -15, straight temp. I can hear the wind howling, and I'm definitely apprehensive about going to work this afternoon.

I pack alot of clothing and cold weather supplies in the car during the winter, but this level of cold is nuts. Used to think I could put everything on and safely walk to shelter if my car broke down. Not so sure right now.

I can hear my employer grumbling if I have to call in because my car won't start. Which is quite possible.

I've been getting up every 3 hours to run the car for 15 minutes, and so far it's started fine each time. I'm not going to mess with success, even though this is supposed to continue through tomorrow morning.

Currently it's -23 and I hope it doesn't get any colder.
