I’m curious what others do to release tension and relax when life gets hectic. I usually do not have a issue - coming home to unwind and get away from the outside world is usually enough. This past week has been an exception. Numerous first world, minor disruptions to my routine have left me ridiculously irritable. Some I gather enjoy a good drink. I’ve tried it but I really don’t enjoy drinking unless I am in a good mood. The same goes for most activities. It’s made me more curious than anything about what others do. Not suggestions for myself, as we are all different, but what actually works for you.

Walk 18. Being on a golf course by myself taking a walk is always a nice break for me. If the course is crowed I'll get the wife and go for a drive (or go by myself). Then there's the good old nap.

I watch mindless (korean) TV - some shows are just pure, naive and the world is good and romantic. What I no longer do is take walks where I wind up in my head running scenarios. Is this a loaded question? Why won't the rest of my post post?

There was supposed to be a winking face sarcasm face after the loaded question part. Then the rest of the post is serious. I grab a cigar and sit on the front porch. If I had my guitars and my rec room finished, I would jam out.

Depends on my mood when I need to. If I'm frustrated, I'll meditate (not a regular meditator though) If I'm worn out (overworked and stressed) I'll sit down and watch episodes of SouthPark. Sometimes, you gotta roll the hard six

Go for a bike/run. Hookers & blow usually does it for me. More seriously: I usually just ride it out. Most of my stress I create for myself. No cure for that other than simply getting over it. Walk, bike ride. Younger days was a ride through the mountains on an FJ1200. Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. Mow my yard. I love getting on my ZTR and making my yard look good (yeah, I'm weird like that). I always feel like I've accomplished something good on those days that it feels like I haven't done anything constructive. Of course, surfing Sig Forum in another way to kick back and relax. Depends on your physical abilities, but I enjoy a workout at the gym, usually 1 to 1-1/2 hours. I do resistance training (weight machines) followed by 10-20 minutes of cardio (treadmill, elliptical, stationary bike). Sometimes I can get there, sometimes I can't! BTW, I'm 69 and can carry my own at the gym!

It's been a doozy of a week for me at work (and it's only Tuesday). Today, I came home, went out in the woods with a rosary and my M&P 2.0 compact. It's a strange combination, but after 15 minutes of quiet prayer, and 46 rounds of lead on steel, all is fine. Two things I learned today in the woods... the Rosary comes alive when all of the distractions of the world aren't close. And APEX tactical triggers are amazing!

Some kind of physical activity. Gym, running, biking whatever you want. Any physical activity where you get your heart rate up and are moving will do you good. Endorphins or whatever scientific reason it really works. Talking to someone your close to can also help at times. Dogs are always good stress relief. _____________________________________ Because in the end, you won’t remember the time you spent working in the office or mowing your lawn.
