A nice cigar after dinner did it for me. Doctor put a stop to that. So I just play on my iPad. Kinda sad really.

I used to go on a long run. With the back all jacked up, I just sit and surf. Maybe have a drink by the fire. Bad long term plan. But I'll have to figure something out. Need a new routine.

Either spend some time out on my bike or hit the range for a while.

Before I retired I'd ride the bike 25-60 miles 3-4 times a week. Now it's 2-3 hours of pickleball 5-6 times s week.

Nightly run. It's my "prescription" and has kept me off blood pressure meds for about 15 years (and the issues that come with those). It also helps me to get to know my neighborhood/neighbors in a way that wouldn't have happened otherwise.

Edit: Woo hoo - 500 posts! Only took 13+ years.

Me, too! I have 6 of them and when I settle into my lounge chair in the Den (TV active--it runs 24/7) they will come to me, one or two at a time, to lie down somewhere on me. (When I sleep in the chair, I may wake up with 3 of them distributed over my frame.) They keep me sane.

Bucket of golf balls.
34” aluminum large barrel bat.
Side of mountain overlooking a valley miles below.
Crank off multiple home runs into the expanse of nowhere, seeing it I can get the next one farther out than the last.
If golf balls aren’t available, small rocks work also, but golf balls have that amazing sail that you cannot get from a rock.

I find that regular exercise prevents stress from affecting mood. Sporadic on demand for a single day concern does not.

Not really anything. I work too damn much.

Sleep.

Surf Sigforum.

A really good hug from my 8 year old daughter always gives me a palpable relief from stress. She can make my grumpiest day feel a hundred times better.

Yesterday I took a few small carpets outside and banged all of the dust out of them. Removed everything portable from the c.1926 yellow pine bedroom floor. Gave the old deck a careful sweeping. Including under the bedside table and radiator. Mixed up a couple inches of HOT HOT water in the tub with a dose of Murphy Oil Soap "Safely Cleans Wood".

I soak an old towel and wring it out half-way good. Toss it on the floor, roll up my pant-legs, and walk about the floor with towel underfoot à la Calpurnia. This was a FOUR soap'n'wringing floor swab, as I had been thinking of doing it for a COUPLE of months.

This morning, hanging my blankets and sheet from wall brackets to air both them and the fitted sheet, setting pillows upon shelf, all daily actions of the Fresh Bedding Ritual, I note my bedroom smelled really clean and fresh.

I'll have to be careful. The next gal who stays for dinner might never leave.
