I would be considered socially conservative. I have not been a fan of Milo. I listened to the podcast past the discussion point of the issue at hand.

My reaction is: what do you expect from someone of his bent? Catch him having sex with a minor? Arrest him. Catch him with child pornography? Arrest him.

But saying what he said? I didn't hear him say anything for which he should be arrested. Yes, he makes a distinction between pre-pubescent minors and pubescent minors. But I see it as rationalizing his own experience. And even if it was advocating for what he said, I don't find it offensive. At least, he's honest and people can argue with him about those positions. It certainly is better than some people working their way to be some evangelical youth pastor so they can bugger children.

If he was a liberal, those same liberals wanting to burn him at the stake would be defending him. As a social conservative, I do not agree with his lifestyle but it's his lifestyle. I am glad he supports my view that I should not be forced to bake a wedding cake for those of his lifestyle. As a conservative, I will support his right to say what he says; if he says those things about my children, I'll knock his teeth out but only because it's personal. He hasn't said anything personal and offensive.

Having now resigned from Breitbart, he'll be able to resume his gadfly ways.

I always saw him as the gay iteration of Andrew Dice Clay - but much brighter.

Milo is kind of a shock jock in his own right. Trying to mainstream someone like Milo is problematic at best.

Dice was banned from MTV and drew fire from a lot of similar sources because of his shtick, too. Dice is still making his way but he isn't selling out Madison Square Garden for days in a row anymore.

I sense that Republicans were willing to give Milo a chance because he proved their open mindedness as Milo poked the many sacred leftist cows.

Looks like the publisher cancelled his book.

They did cancel his book deal.

At this point, I think Milo's only option is to launch out independently, like Ann Coulter for instance, publish a blog, and try to get his book out with a new publisher. And continue his-- tumultuous, controversial-- speaking tours.

He has condemned pedophilia, so he is not in any way pushing the agenda of the man/boy groups, or whatever they are called.

If he's not a pedophile-- which could be the next shoe to drop, some boy(s) coming forward-- he can survive some stupid talk on a late night podcast and salvage his career.

This is from his press conference today, published on the Breitbart website. I have bolded part of it:

"But let’s be clear what is happening here. This is a cynical media witch hunt from people who don’t care about children. They care about destroying me and my career, and by extension my allies. They know that although I made some outrageous statements, I’ve never actually done anything wrong. These videos have been out there for more than a year. Unfucking believable. He got taken down fast. It would be great to see him survive this just as Trump did with the pussy video but I donno.

Depending on how he handles this, he could end up doing better out on his own.

I really enjoyed watching him on YouTube. This is going to be very difficult to come back from with conservatives. Many didn't like his off color remarks and him calling president Trump daddy.

This is a good point. Because what we need to never lose sight of is that the Republican establishment can't be separated from the Democrats. They-- George Will, Mitch McConnell, Bill Kristol, John McCain-- are as determined as any Democrat to undermine President Trump and his agenda-- and anyone they feel is forwarding his agenda.

From what I can tell, Milo has been steadily increasing the "bit" aspect of his presentation, adding more and more raunchy entertainment to it. I think he fancies himself a cross between a social/political commentator and an x-rated stand-up comedian. Comedians constantly "get away" with jokes on stage that would in other circumstances get them branded racist, homophobic, misogynistic, pedophile supporters. Pedophilia jokes are not uncommon among stand-up comedians. I strongly suspect Milo doesn't really approve of pedophilia and was just trying to further push the envelope of what he could get away with in his comedy, and it was a big miscalculation, at the least.

I like him when he talks about facts, but I never cared for his over-the-top shtick and trolling. I've spent less and less time listening to him and more time listening to Ben Shapiro, who talks about a lot of the same issues, minus the flamboyance and talk of sucking black dicks, etc.

If I'm wrong about Milo, and if he's ever as an adult had sex with a young teen, well, get a rope.



Edit to add: Comedians also often ridicule people in their audience, which is something Milo regularly does.

Milo is responsible for his own actions.
You can't blame anyone else for this one.
I've never been a big fan but never advocated against him either.
He did it all to himself.
Whether it is justified or not is not my call.
Seems a little overboard to me.

Poor Milo said he "mis-spoke." I have mis-spoken many times. But, I believe you can only utilize that tactic if you're a Democrat. Republicans are not allowed to get away with mis-speaking, or any other of the hundreds of things Democrats can get away with.
