I have long believed that if there is a POW medal for honorable conduct while in enemy captivity, there should be something similar for avoiding or escaping from captivity in a situation like that: some sort of E&E medal. Years ago a co-worker told me about a situation in Korea when he was captured, but then he and a few others managed to escape and get back to friendly lines. Then there was Captain Scott O’Grady who avoided capture by Bosnian Serb forces for six days after being shot down. Evading capture and especially escaping from captivity can be far more dangerous that just giving up (at least if civilized enemy forces are involved).

Gotta admit, seeing the images of the burnt-out MC-130's I started thinking someone grabbed some images from 1980 and attempted some deception. Instead not deja-vu to Eagle Claw but, took me a minute....

Meanwhile, didn't realize this was happening much deeper into Iran than initially thought.

Nah, would have been perfect, imo, had he ended with "THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER". Big Grin

Yeah, something tells me that what Trump wrote on Truth Social was not written by staffers and approved by senior advisors.

I read an early account that the airman had been rescued. It hadn’t been confirmed as of last night. This morning the confirmation came. What a relief! God bless America.

One of the rarely seen CASA's that JSOC uses for clandestine ops, which likely extracted everyone out after the heavier -130's got stuck in the soft soil.

Funny how that works when you have the right administration in charge.

Just to expound a little:
How many "journalists" have been savagely criticizing President Trump about the "lack of planning" that went into this most recent conflict. My question is: where were these assholes during the debacle of Benghazi and then the chaos of the evacuation of Afghanistan?

It is reported that President Trump stayed up all night for two nights in a row directing and monitoring the rescue effort. "The right administration in charge" indeed.

Not it. While a short fuselage, the C-295W has winglets whereas the C-146A and the longer DASH-8 does not.
DASH-8 is mentioned but not seen in video.
