Thank you, everyone, for your kind words. I’m glad to see that many of you who’ve lost pets over the years reflect like I do about ours on seeing threads like this. It is very much appreciated and Jake will be glad to frolic with them all.

You gave him a good life. He enjoyed his life with you. And he gave you his very best.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

Truly sorry for your loss. Our dogs are family. Losing family is always hard- especially when you see that family member on a daily basis and they fill your life with the joy, love, and affection you put into them. It’s truly heartbreaking watching them when their short by comparison lives near the end. Each dog is as unique as any person and I remember each and every one I’ve had in great detail.
