Are you sure about this? I use Medlin Accounting's Payroll module for my small business payroll. The tax tables have had a couple of updates this past year, so I'm sure that they are current. I have been paying payroll taxes of 1.45% from employee withholding, plus 1.45% for employer paid payroll tax, for a total of 2.9% for Medicare for all of 2016, same as 2015, 2014, etc. I just confirmed, via the IRS website, that the 1.45% for each employer and employee contributions are the same in 2016 as in previous years.
