In May of 1980, we were still being told that Carter was comfortably ahead of Reagan in the polls......

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) predicted Tuesday that Donald Trump, the presumptive GOP nominee, will be more competitive in November than many political analysts expect.

McConnell told reporters he is buoyed by a new Quinnipiac poll showing Trump within a few points of Hillary Clinton, the likely Democratic nominee, in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania, three crucial battlegrounds.

“It looks to me like at the beginning of the race, Florida and Pennsylvania and Ohio look pretty competitive,” he said.

McConnell said he is looking forward to meeting with Trump Thursday morning

“I think most of my members believe he’s won the nomination the old fashioned way, he got more votes than anybody else and we respect the voices of the Republican primary voters across the country and we’ll sit down and talk about the way forward,” he said.

“We know Hillary Clinton will be four more years of Barack Obama. I think that’s going to in the end be enough to unify Republicans across the country,” he added.

Watching Hillary be defeated, perhaps decisively, is as enjoyable as seeing a Republican win. I've never been particularly voyeuristic, but watching each and every nail be hammered into place in that witch's coffin is especially satisfying. She truly is vile.

Don’t say Donald Trump has never sacrificed for the red, white and blue.

As The Daily Beast reporter Olivia Nuzzi has amply documented, the real estate mogul and 2016 presidential contender has sued a stunning number of individuals, companies and countries over the years, for a whole host of reasons. But perhaps the most patriotic lawsuit Trump ever filed was in defense of a super-sized American flag he sported outside of his Mar-a-Lago country club estate in Palm Beach.

According to an Associated Press report from the time, Trump sued the town of Palm Beach in 1996 for millions of dollars after he was cited for flying a large American flag on an 80-foot pole, which apparently violated Palm Beach regulations mandating flags be flown on flag poles no higher than 42-feet.

“A smaller flag and pole on Mar-a-Lago’s property would be lost given its massive size, look silly instead of make a statement, and most importantly would fail to appropriately express the magnitude of Donald J. Trump’s and the Club’s members’ patriotism,” the lawsuit reportedly declared, before going on to state the town’s actions were in violation of, among other things, the First, Eighth and Fourteenth Amendments.

In a later filing obtained by The Daily Caller, Trump’s lawyers noted that Mar-a-Lago is larger than the White House, before explaining, “The size of the Club and its property demand that any flag on the premises be large in order to be viewed and to communicate the Club’s and Mr. Trump’s commitment to the flag and the nation.”

Before bringing the lawsuit, Trump lamented, “The day you need a permit to put up the American flag, that will be a sad day for this country.”

Has a greater American hero ever lived? Perhaps. But certainly not a glitzier American. Trump is by far the glitziest.

In January 2007, the town of Palm Beach voted to fine Trump $1,250 a day until he got in line with the town’s regulations of American flags. Still, ever the American patriot, Trump persisted.

Finally, in April 2007, Palm Beach and Donald Trump came to a resolution. Trump would be allowed to fly his ginormous flag on a 70-foot flag pole, instead of the 80-foot flag pole, and the city would waive all fines Trump had accrued. In exchange, Trump dropped his lawsuit against the city. He also apparently agreed to donate $100,000 to various veterans’ charities.

But this would not be Trump’s last battle over an American flag. In 2014, Trump took on local government officials in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif. to keep another giant American flag up at his Trump National Golf Course, a fight Trump appears to have won without having to resort to litigation.

Sanders wins again easily, this time in WV. The way the Dems award super delegates, it's unlikely he can stop her from being the nominee but she sure isn't riding a wave of momentum heading into Philadelphia. I think Trump wins in November (if Hillary is even still in the game) by a landslide.

ETA: Sanders has also won Nebraska in what the talking heads are calling a major upset. There just is no fire in the belly among the Dems for Clinton. She can't win in November.

The big thing come general election time, is gonna be "who counts the votes". I think we'll see voter fraud on a massive scale.

I hope that every polling station has honest folks in charge, but I'm just sure that ain't so.

And currently has 31 of the 34 WV delegates (3 still not assigned yet)

Hillary is a very weak candidate. But I saw Corey Lewandowski on tv last night, and I was glad to hear him say that the Democrat Party is a machine in elections. They have a powerful organization from the macro to the micro level that just cranks out votes, mostly from lofo, dependent voters who will vote for anybody at all they are told to vote for. Add to that their vote fraud, and no matter who is running as a Democrat, they will be tough to beat.

I'm glad Trump's team realizes that, and they need to put that message out clear and strong so that no potential voters stay home thinking that it's going to be a landslide.

I will be delighted if it is a landslide, I'll dance in the street, (and I don't dance), but we need to prepare for and expect a very tough election fight. After all, it's the Clinton Crime Family and the Democrat Party. Batten the hatches.

The longer the naive Bernie supporters hang on to a thread of hope, the better the chances of them staying home when the witch is crowned as their nominee.
