At this juncture, I can hardly imagine the circus and political revolt if the RNC has the audacity to nominate *anyone* other than Trump (or in a remote possibility - Cruz), no matter who or how or why. it may be legal, but I doubt it will be tolerated or forgivable.

Republican leaders adamantly opposed to Donald J. Trump’s candidacy are preparing a 100-day campaign to deny him the presidential nomination, starting with an aggressive battle in Wisconsin’s April 5 primary and extending into the summer, with a delegate-by-delegate lobbying effort that would cast Mr. Trump as a calamitous choice for the general election.

But should that effort falter, leading conservatives are prepared to field an independent candidate in the general election

The names of a few well-known conservatives have been offered up in recent days as potential third-party standard-bearers, and William Kristol, editor of The Weekly Standard, has circulated a memo to a small number of conservative allies detailing the process by which an independent candidate could get on general-election ballots across the country.

Among the recruits under discussion are Tom Coburn, a former Oklahoma senator who has told associates that he would be open to running, and Rick Perry, the former Texas governor who was suggested as a possible third-party candidate at a meeting of conservative activists on Thursday in Washington.

David McIntosh, president of the conservative Club for Growth, which has spent millions on ads attacking Mr. Trump, said his group met on Wednesday and concluded it was still possible to avert Mr. Trump’s nomination. The group plans a comprehensive study of Trump supporters to sharpen a message aimed at driving them away from him.

talk about a civil war

back on page 334 is a ltr from David McIntosh asking Trump for a millions dollars to have a "dramatically positive impact".

Do these morons think that a 3rd party run is a path to put a conservative in the White House (spoilaer: It's not) or do they prefer Hillary to Trump? Any elected official that endorses this strategy should be punished severely at the ballot box.

Sen. Jeff Sessions arranges private Donald Trump meeting with Republican leaders...

http://www.al.com/news/index.s...ml#incart_river_home

As Donald Trump moves closer to the Republican presidential nomination, his Alabama backer is working to smooth relations between the business magnate and the Congress he may one day have to work with.

U.S. Sen. Jeff Sessions, along with Trump campaign lawyer Donald McGahn, organized the meeting between Trump and GOP leaders in Congress as well as the party's Washington establishment, The Washington Post reported Saturday.

Sessions, of course, announced his endorsement of Trump during a rally in Madison last month.

The Post reported that the meeting, set for Monday in Washington, is Trump's first major meeting with Republican leaders since last fall.

I expect that Trump will remind them of that...

The rioting will reach epic porportion if Trump is screwed out of the nomination.

I for 1, will re-arrange our county RNC HQ into a smoldering pile of debris. Then I'm goin to Austin to see about the state HQ. But I'm assuming it will already be taken care of by then.

If the establishment is gonna fuck over the voters, it's gonna get fuckin ugly.

Tennessee:
“We’re going to keep fighting for Cruz. They’re going to keep fighting for Trump. But at the end of the day, it’s going to be one of these two folks who actually get to the convention with the most, if not the right, number of delegates, and then, we’re not going to let somebody who’s sat on the sidelines come in and circumvent the process,”

this is going on in Alabama as well

"I’ve seen reports that in Texas and Missouri and Nevada people [delegates] are doing the same thing"

“These [brokered convention proponent] guys are soft, the Bill Kristols in Washington, the David Brooks in New York. They’re soft. They’ve never had any battles. They’ve been pampered. All they do is sit and pontificate. They don’t know what’s going on in the real world,” Leahy said.

IF the establishment torpedoes the frontrunners (Trump or Cruz) I WILL vote democrat. Until We The People start handing out pink slips nothing will change.

A hard lesson for us all, but it will have to be done.

And that is exactly what they expect you to do. They keep their jobs, gin up a little hate and discontent for some campaign money, and all is well in their world.

Screw that. Until these hacks are in the bread line NOTHING will change.

If Trump were cheated out of the nomination, and, say, Paul Ryan put forward, I would vote for Paul Ryan to keep Hillary out of the presidency. BUT I would immediately join the new party that without a doubt would be formed immediately after the election. The Republican Party would be dead.

I would do anything to keep Hillary out. Whoever does not agree with that has no idea what 4 or 8 years of Hillary would do to this nation.

I detest Paul Ryan. And Mitt Romney. That whole lot. But in a minute I would choose any of them rather than Hillary. And I would do everything in my power to see that the corrupt Republican Party was destroyed, and a new party formed.

Meanwhile-- Go Donald!

At this point, I think that's the key. Whether Trump or Cruz or good ol' vthoky, We The People have to get someone in office who's not going to continue giving away our country. That's Job One right now, as I see it.

To me, it's like going down a very long sliding board, head first and face down -- ya gotta get hold of something to slow down the crash rate. After you've got hold, then you can begin to turn things right, and possibly enjoy the rest of the ride.

God bless America.

It is a sad commentary when some folks may choose to vote for a known enemy of our way of life when there are alternatives that may not be your personal Goldilocks candidate but are light years ahead of the other choices. Doing so, you will guarantee the end of the United States we would like to maintain. If so, I hope you are young enough to suffer all of the consequences of your poor judgement. I likely don't have enough years left to experience much of it but will vote to preserve my country even if it is not the "perfect" candidate. I don't like voting for the lesser of two evils either but would do so if that is the only option. Go Donald!

Perhaps, but others of us who are young enough to suffer from it really won't appreciate it. Too bad we can't put that suffering directly onto those who would screw it up, and then let the rest of us try and make positive progress. Wink

We are paying for people's poor judgement already and have been for a long time!

People watching sports and other BS but have no real clue what the politicians are doing.

Just eat up the sound bites and media spin...... how many years have I waited for Fox and the republicans to out themselves........

We just didn't wake up and poof everything is fucked.

True, but putting hildabeast, or someone like her, in the white house is not a really good way to express your contempt.

Name one democraP other than the hildabeast who has the slightest chance to inherit the white house.

Bernie? Not in a million years. Even the free shit crowd is beginning to get the message that his "tax and spend" philosophy has never, and never will work.

If we end up with some GOPe asshole as the presidential candidate we, as a nation, are finished. Another 4 years of explosive gubbermint growth, both in head count and seizure of powers not delegated to gubbermint, will spell the end of the nation as we knew and loved it.

Poor judgement is doing exctly what the establishment hacks want us to do. It's like being in an ambush. You are in the kill zone; you are all ready dead. Now you can try to hide, find cover, and die later, or you can charge the enemy and try to take the field. Sure, it will be painful, you may not make it, but you won't go quitely cowering in some ditch.

I am done doing the bidding of the establishment. The fact that they even entertain the idea of brokering the convention for their choice, or running a third party just to usurp the will of the people tells me all I need to know. They EXPECT us to hold our noses and vote against the other guy; they KNOW we will not like it but we will do it. It is their ultimate power over us. We don't vote FOR a candidate; we vote AGAINST a candidate. And until we put them out on their asses, it will never change.

I refuse to cower in a ditch, hopeing to fight some type of delaying action. I prefer to "seek out, close with, and destroy the enemy by fire and manuver".

If not now, it will be never.

If the Republican Party ignores the will of the people and tries underhanded shit THE PARTY WILL FOREVER BE DEAD TO ME AND WILL LOSE MY SUPPORT AND VOTE FOREVER !

The GOP needs to be smart for a damn change. There is a real potential for them to absolutely kill their party here. It's exciting.
