I think that's true, oldbill. There'd be a lot of hiring and firing going on.

Look, if you want to understand Trump, just read his books about himself. Read the Art of the Deal. Read about how he got funding to build Trump Plaza. (Hint: it was all bullshit.) He brags about how he swindles and bullies people. Hell, in The Farm Story he bragged at the time about how he bullied the bank into stopping the foreclosure by threatening to sue them for the ridiculous notion that they caused someone's suicide. From The Art of the Deal via Buzzfeed:

quote:
The next morning, I called and got some vice president on the line. I explained that I was a businessman from New York, and that I was interested in helping Mrs. Hill. He told me he was sorry, but that it was too late. They were going to auction off the farm, he said, and ‘nothing or no one is going to stop it.’

...

That really got me going...I said to the guy: ‘You listen to me. If you do foreclose, I’ll personally bring a lawsuit for murder against you and your bank, on the grounds that you harassed Mrs. Hill’s husband to his death.’ All of a sudden the bank officer sounded very nervous and said he’d get right back to me.

He'll tell you who he is if you'll just listen to him.

Very well. Your opinion is based on your first hand knowledge, and you have stuck to that. Admirable.

I do not have such an in depth knowledge of any candidate. My money though, goes on the guy who speaks plain english, has a proven record in business, and says what the silent majority is thinking. Is he a staunch conservative? Most likely not. Does he understand the threats we face as a nation? I believe so, even if it is unpopoular to voice them. Can he negotiate with people/nations? I submit he can, and will drive a hard bargan for the US.

So people worry about experience...just how much does Obama have? Could Trump do worse? Doubtfull.

Obama thinks he knows everythng and that he is always right, like many politicians. That is why they go into politics. It's easy to know best if you are in charge.

Trump knows what he can do, and dreams of what he can do better. He knows HE can effect this outcome. That is why he went into business, not politics. The ability to control your success or failure.

Politicians like easy money for an easy job. They should try working for it for a change.

You think business at the top levels are Marquess of Queensberry rules? See how Butch Cassidy fought the giant. First rule is there ain't no rules.

DT would have never survived had he not had a decent business ethic. He was dealing with some of the most corrupt people/unions that graft can create and he wins. Maybe a little back scratching going on but so what? Build the damn wall.

Chris Christie is never going to overcome his Obama bromance.

Thanks, mbinky. You're a standup guy.

I understand why you support Trump. And your reasoning isn't wrong or bad. I think you have lots of company in thinking that way.

Trump may well win the whole thing. It'll be fascinating to watch. If it's him vs. Hillary in the general, he'll get my vote (not that it matters out here in Seattle). But right now, I continue to view him with the same jaundiced eye I always have.

That sounds like exactly the kind of guy I would want on my side when the chips are down. Thank you for that, shopworn. (Darn autocorrect!)

I knew someone would say that.

And if he were my lawyer, I'd agree with you.

But I really don't want another egomaniacal, narcissistic bully in the White House. Even if he's my egomaniacal, narcissistic bully. 8 years is more than enough.

I mean, how hypocritical would I be to complain about Obama for 8 years and then want the Republican version of the same guy to replace him?

If you owe the bank $1 million that you can't pay, you have a problem. If you owe the bank $100 million you can't pay, the bank has a problem.

You ought to hear all the things I've been told to try to stop a foreclosure! They threatened murder..... mine! I was only the trustee on the deed of trust!

Frankly, I've never heard that story about Trump, but I don't believe it. Trump is a bullshitter extraordinaire, not necessarily a detriment for a President. There some people who, if they tell you it is Sunday, you have to make them put up a bond.

Luckily, I have enough willpower to control the driving ambition that rages within me.

When you had the votes, we did things your way. Now, we have the votes and you will be doing things our way. This lesson in political reality from Lyndon B. Johnson

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." - Justice Janice Rogers Brown

So, you're saying if it is "Obama" or Hillary, you are for the new "Obama". I don't see much of a difference there at all. You might even say, "No difference." Or maybe another Obama would be worse than Hillary....

You are not making too much sense in this thread, showpro. Though you are untiring in your effort to discredit Trump, I'll give you that. Personally, I'm done with this nonsense.

Well, that's good enough for me.

Showpro doesn't like Trump. Fine, he's given his reasons. We all have our guy that we want to win, and that's what the primaries are for, but come general election time, I would hope that everyone would have the same attitude. Beat the God damned commies.

I prefer Trump over Christie, but if it's Christie vs Hilldawg...well you can bet your ass I'm showing up to the polls, and Christie is getting my vote.

what "bullshit" of Trump's are we supposedly buying into?

I think he's a shrewd man, a business powerhouse, one who loves America, and won't take any bullshit, and I don't care if he's the antichrist personified much less christian enough for some...

nope, no illusions here... there is no pedistal, Trump is simply the least repulsive, and most likely to beat Hillary for a variety of reasons, none of which are hero worship or believing in "bullshit" such as you suggest from your feigned neutral perspective.

we've had a lifetime of the devils we know and look where we are...

professional politicians are a scourge, a pox, a putrid and vile sort - on the whole, the problem more than the solution most of the time, and I wouldn't let Christie do my lawn for fear of the trail of slimy sludge and pontificating nonsense he'd litter about.

whatever Trump's faults, and they no doubt exist, he isn't one of the other retards/crooks.

I was a bit harsh, showpro, and 'tis the season, and all that, so, I'm sorry for the rudeness. Smile

As a personality, Trump is someone I would avoid, so I understand all the comments about his ego, his bombast, and so on. But I think our country is really at a do-or-die crossroads, and that Trump and Cruz are the only two figures who can lead us out of the straits we are in after 7 years of the traitor. So I tend to get worked up.

Besides, you said that ultimately you would vote for him against Hillary. That's good enough for me.

I concur. The interchange was probably nothing like that. He's a bullshit artist. And it's worked very well for him. He's also a talented real estate developer and he's parlayed that into a brand. Good for him.

But when he told the story, he made himself out to be a bully. Why? Why did he want people to see him like that?

I really don't believe anything he says. I think he's either telling everyone what they want to hear or just outright lying. And when he gets caught, he just spouts more bullshit.
