You can't have high government officials talking without their briefs, in case they get caught with their trousers down.

Besides, how is Trump to know what foreign policy is unless they tell him.

I've heard only one production line was moving, not the factory. And a UAW deal kept it here until 2019. I'll see if I can find a source.

ETA: Found this - http://www.npr.org/sections/th...oduction-in-kentucky

quote:
President-elect Donald Trump took to Twitter on Thursday night to say Ford Motor Co. executive chairman William Ford Jr. had called to say the company would not move production of the Lincoln MKC from its Louisville Assembly Plant to Mexico. A second Trump tweet claimed credit for the decision. Ford, however, said it neither planned to close the Louisville, Ky., plant nor reduce jobs there. The company said it had considered moving Lincoln production to Mexico to increase production of the Ford Escape in Louisville. Trump criticized Ford during the campaign for its decision to move small-car production from Michigan to Mexico. Trump suggested he might impose tariffs on Ford cars assembled in Mexico. Earlier this week, Ford CEO Mark Fields said Trump's election has not changed the company's plans. Reuters reports: " 'We're going forward with our plan to move production of the Ford Focus to Mexico, and importantly that's to make room for two very important products we'll be putting back into Michigan plants,' Fields said in an interview on the sidelines of the Los Angeles Auto Show. 'There will be no job impact whatsoever with this move.' "Ford Chairman Bill Ford Jr. said last month he met with Trump. Ford has countered Trump's criticism, saying the company, founded by his great-grandfather, makes more cars and trucks in the United States than any other automaker. "Fields said with U.S. gasoline prices so low, 'it's very difficult for us to be able to make money on a vehicle produced in the U.S.' in the small car segment. If Ford decided to build the Focus small car line in the United States, and had to raise the price, 'we wouldn't sell the vehicle.' " Ford has said on previous occasions that it has no intention of closing plants in the U.S. Also, plant closings are covered by collective bargaining agreements with the United Auto Workers Union, and it's not clear if plants could be closed before those agreements expire. Meanwhile Ford said in a statement to NPR, "Today, we confirmed with the President-elect that our small Lincoln utility vehicle made at the Louisville Assembly Plant will stay in Kentucky. We are encouraged that President-elect Trump and the new Congress will pursue policies that will improve U.S. competitiveness and make it possible to keep production of this vehicle here in the United States." "The auto industry is scared," says Paul Eisenstein, publisher of The Detroit Bureau, an online newspaper that covers the industry. "[It] is very seriously scared about the possibility of seeing barriers and trade wars like before the Great Depression."

These bureaucrats and pearl clutchers are in for a long 4 years...Trump is a businessman, used to moving at a very fast clip and getting things done. Sitting for a multi day briefing for a 30 minute meeting with a peer is not going to fly. The best they can hope for is a 5 minute, bullet point list of high points right before the meeting - if that.

Can you imagine dimwits Marie Harf or Jenn Psaki briefing Trump?

It would be like SNL

speaking of dimwits, Elizabeth Warren said this:

“You know, Americans are angry about a federal government that works for the rich and powerful and it leaves everyone else in the dirt. Donald Trump knows that. He talked a good game during the campaign and he promised to end corruption. He promised to drain the swamp and after one week we’ve seen what Donald Trump’s promise means—nothing . His word, his promise to the American people is worth nothing. Well, Mr. President-elect, let me be clear. I’m ready to fight on behalf of the millions of Americans you have lied to. That includes the millions who voted for you and the millions who didn’t.”

Warren held a leadership position in zero senate committees. She introduced zero bills that became law in 2015.

How much good has Warren ever done in draining the swamp?

Given the reality in the state department, just how would they "advise" Trump? State has proven over the last years that they are corrupt and have little idea of what their real job responsibilities might be.

Besides, AIR, they all are responsible to the nation's chief executive.

Were I in his position I would ignore most anything that came out of that mess until it had been cleaned up. And cleaning up would involve mass terminations of employment.

Yet based on Abe's comments he seems to be very confident that Mr. Trump is going to be a good leader and seems to be looking forward to working with him. Hmmm, maybe Japanese people like straightforward plain speech too instead of the stuff out of a back end of a horse that usually comes out of politicians. Who knew?

Exactly right. Trump and his supporters are racist, misogynists, bigots...but Keith Ellison who is a radical Muslim with direct ties to Farrakhan is the face that's going to revive the Democrat party? Do these hypocrites even know what it means to be a racist, misogynist, or a bigot? It's comical to the point of absurdity..

It doesn't matter.

You guys know the press was going to do this, or you should have known. You know that congenital idiots and complete frauds like Elizabeth Warren would be making ridiculous claims about Trump before he's even sworn in, or you should have known.

Guys, I don't want to open this thread and see a bunch of stuff about this entirely predictable behavior. Keep it to a minimum in this thread.

"Elizabeth Warren said..." Uh uh, Don't want to see it, gentlemen, not in this thread,. Everyone here- everyone- should have known the idiots were going to keep spewing their idiotic garbage. Spare us this crap.

I'm not asking. I'm saying this is the way it's going to be in this thread.

Savor the victory, and save your indignation for people with triple digit IQs.

Which is one of the main reasons we should go nuclear on these folks in the legislature and courts. We will NEVER again have such an opportunity. They have clearly shown their disdain for this Country, its people, and the Constitution. Its time we took off the gloves. Vanquish these idiots. Drive them into the dustbin of socialist failures. I want to see Reid and Pelosi's faces on milk cartons in the Senate cafateria.

Good point, it is unlikely we will have such an opportunity. However, best to think ahead so that future votes are not lost. Try to keep this strong position for a long time.

How would you propose to accomplish that?

These people are there because their constituents vote them in. Short of some appalling ethics scandal, substance abuse, dalliances with a person inadequately clothed, etc. they are there as long as they want, for life, maybe.

Every now and then, you get lucky, and find cash in the freezer, or some financial improprieties. Operations like Abscam lose their attraction if tried too often. Short of things like that, you are stuck with these fools.
