It has been a while since school, but iirc...

We live in a "Representative Republic", not a strict Democracy.

We have areas, such as your local voting districts where popular vote winners are declared.
Then you tally them up statewide where, again, the popular vote winner is declared.

After that, the Electoral College votes per state are counted. So up until that point, every single vote counts and is in effect, a strict Democracy based on popular vote counts.
At that point, the "Representative votes" for each state take over.

Functions very much like the Senate, where regions have a "Representative" doing daily tasks of law. In this manner, the delegate can do their job without taking a poll for every single item that they come across.

In this manner, the whole country is represented, not just what people within cities think should be done.

Feel free to correct me if I misunderstand something here.

Yes, but he'll still be closely involved, just from the outside.

Ben Carson doesn't want to deal with bureaucracy, especially something as massively bureaucratic as the Department of Health and Human Resources. Or even education. And who can blame him?

But make no mistake, he'll have the President's ear.

That actually kinda annoys me. The guy wanted to be President, but now he declines to serve the new president because he doesn't want to deal with bureaucracy? I think that's pretty weak. He'll deal with the bureaucracy as long as he gets the glory and the power, but it's too much to ask if he is merely a cabinet guy?

The anti-Trump protestors are paid troublemakers. Paid for by George Soros. We shouldn't even use the term "anti-Trump protestors." But I realize we're sort of stuck with it, like "the media' for Democrat shills. On the positive side, it's all more exposed now than ever before.

He went for president, and when that didn't work out, he was a steadfast supporter of Trump, all the way to the victory. If he decides now that he wants out of politics-- that's his choice.

Could be an interesting choice to consider. Currently Secretary of State of Kansas. He's also counsel with the Immigration Law Reform Institute. Filed numerous lawsuits involving immigration and has helped craft legislation - including the Arizona law that attracted so much attention.

Of course it's Carson's choice to not serve, but to me it does seem a bit of a cop out. I think he'd be very effective and well thought of. I'm disappointed to hear he won't pursue/accept a position.

My wife, who was not happy with Trump but voted for him anyway, told me today that she's been watching complete, unedited videos of DT, and that she really likes what he is saying. She says his positions are reasonable. I told her that once you get past the pundit's hyperbole, Trump seems like he has a lot going for him.

As a side note, why are we still hearing from that Obama guy, as if his opinion matters?

Fine by me.

He's needed more for his help and expertise in the dismantling and replacement of this absolute abortion known laughably as the "Affordable" (LMAO!) Care Act, and not buried in some obscure Cabinet position. He's going to play a major role in the Trump Administration, don't you worry.

Good Lord, no. That position is kind of a joke anymore isn't it? When was the last time we ever heard from Obama's Surgeon General? It always struck me as kind of strange anyway to take someone who never served in the military and put them in what is basically a 4-star Admiral's uniform in that job.

These Silicon Valley dipshits think they're cute, but I love it when comeuppance goes their way Big Grin

quote:
For instance, Matt Harrigan, CEO of cyber-security firm PacketSled, is, like most of the Silicon Valley executives, bright but arrogant and condescending to those who disagree with him. Despite Harrigan's wishes, Trump was elected. And so Harrigan publicly announced he would assassinate Trump. Although most of the original statements and tweets have since been deleted, Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit captured the ugliness in a series of screen shots.

Not surprisingly many of the liberal left, in all its non-peace-loving, narrow-minded glory, approved...

quote:
...Threatening to kill anyone, especially a public figure such as a president, is not funny. Other PacketSled executives were not amused, immediately notifying the Secret Service of Harrigan's statements – just as he wished – and placing him on "administrative leave."

And the kicker-
quote:
The PacketSled Board of Directors accepted the resignation of President and CEO Matthew Harrigan, effective immediately. Fred Wilmot, the company’s Chief Technology Officer, will serve as interim CEO while the Board of Directors conducts a search for a permanent replacement. We want to be very clear, PacketSled does not condone the comments made by Mr. Harrigan, which do not reflect the views or opinions of the company, its employees, investors or partners.

Karma is a bitch.

I picked up 'president stampy-feet' from somebody here on the forum, so I cant take credit for that one.
