Here's a couple of thoughtful quotes:

""In contrast, the Democratic Party is torn and rent. Barack Obama entered office in 2009 with both houses of Congress, two likely Supreme Court picks, and the good will of the nation. By 2010 he had lost the House; by 2012, the Senate. And by 2016, Obama had ensured that his would-be successor could not win by running on his platform."

"In the aftermath of defeat, where goes the Democratic Party?

It is now a municipal party. It has no real power over the federal government or state houses. Its once feared cudgel of race/class/gender invective has become a false wolf call heard one too many times. The Sanders-Warren branch of the party, along with the now discredited Clinton strays, will hover over the party’s carcass. Meanwhile, President Obama will likely ride off into the sunset to a lucrative globe-trotting ex-presidency. His executive orders will systematically be dismantled by Donald Trump, leaving as his legacy a polarizing electoral formula that had a shelf life of just two terms."

Yep. Soros, through some intermediary, could offer huge bribes to EC electors pledged to Trump to vote for Clinton instead. Some, but not all, electors are legally bound to vote for their pledged candidate.

Trump winning PA, MI, and WI was Yuuge! You can only screw with the working class so much until they don't believe the BS anymore.

I liked the mood, too. There had to be overdubs but I expected it; if you don't overdub in a studio cover, you're not doin' it right - way too hard to pass up that fun. Big Grin

I read about allegedly elite campuses and their help for the students. It is hard to believe what was done and is being done.

Cornell, a mere shadow of its reputation, held a "Cry In." It was reported tonight that some people were even identified for "safe" talk by having a diaper pin attached to their lapel.

I thought that has got to be something from the Onion or dreamed up by the College Republicans. Still it's easy to believe given that the university had comforting color chalk on hand. Here is a LINK.

"These last two days have been rough ones for students on many of America’s cloistered college campuses. After it became apparent that Republican Donald Trump would win the 2016 presidential election, there was much lamentation. There was wailing and gnashing of teeth. How bad was it? How many Trump tears were shed? Let’s take a look. . . .

Cornell University Students at the Ivy League school in Ithaca held a “Cry In” at the Ho Plaza — complete with colorful chalk — for students beset with grief over Trump’s impending presidency. It’s not clear if colorful chalk was offered to people at Cornell troubled by the 2012 election.

In any case, throngs of Cornell students were reportedly upset about Tuesday night’s results. “How the fuck is he winning? What the fuck?” an unidentified student said at an election watch party on campus, according to The Cornell Daily Sun. . . .."

I seems to me that leaving kids with hankies, coloring books and safe spaces as a substitute for educating them through facing contrary ideas does these people no good. They are making hot house flowers ill-prepared for real life.

Perhaps the reason these socially inept folks are so afraid about Trump as a leader is the bankrupt notions of their own philosophies. The ones who think cynically of government as an instrument of oppression instead of a limited instrument to stay out of the way of liberty, have too many Marxist professors. They seem to be so upset because of what their own misinformed views are telling them.

Reagan said, "It isn't so much that liberals are ignorant. It's just that they know so many things that aren't so.”

I had a friend today refer to me as her "Red" friend. I corrected her on the spot and said "Our new color is Orange, get used to it."

Took her little hampster liberal brain a while to get the joke.

I'm going to make it a rule not to even speak to someone if they are wearing a safety pin on the lapel. I suspect they wouldn't have anything to say I want to hear, anyway.

I would say that scenario only suggests a small chance--I doubt that the great majority of Electors can be bought, especially given the scrutiny that will be given to their votes.

Link? I can't find a site that has called MI for Trump, even though they state 100 percent reporting.

This joke meme (not my creation) ...

... may have some truth to it. Just suppose the polls really did lull Clinton voters into complacency, while simultaneously energizing Trump voters. The polls weren't engineered for a Trump win, but if they were a strategy for a Clinton victory, it backfired on them.

"Bandwagon Fallacy Explanation

The bandwagon fallacy is committed by arguments that appeal to the growing popularity of an idea as a reason for accepting it as true. They take the mere fact that an idea suddenly attracting adherents as a reason for us to join in with the trend and become adherents of the idea ourselves.

This is a fallacy because there are many other features of ideas than truth that can lead to a rapid increase in popularity. Peer pressure, tangible benefits, or even mass stupidity could lead to a false idea being adopted by lots of people. A rise in the popularity of an idea, then, is no guarantee of its truth.

The bandwagon fallacy is closely related to the appeal to popularity; the difference between the two is that the bandwagon fallacy places an emphasis on current fads and trends, on the growing support for an idea, whereas the appeal to popularity does not.

Example
(1) Increasingly, people are coming to believe that Eastern religions help us to get in touch with our true inner being.
Therefore: (2) Eastern religions help us to get in touch with our true inner being.

This argument commits the bandwagon fallacy because it appeals to the mere fact that an idea is fashionable as evidence that the idea is true. Mere trends in thought are not reliable guides to truth, though; the fact that Eastern religions are becoming more fashionable does not imply that they are true."
LINK

I suppose that pushing the idea that your candidate is winning in politics is multifaceted. Discourage your opponent. Appeal to voters with a fallacious bandwagon argument. Discourage voters from wasting their time voting. Or, using the idea that your side is losing to motivate voters.

It seems that the whole thing may have unpredictable mixed results for whichever side may claim they are winning. There is no real way of knowing how it affects the overall vote. I suppose campaigns could poll that question. Big Grin

It is amusing that the meme basically says that polls revealed a winner and that it is the poll's fault Clinton lost instead of those acting according to polls.
