Can Trump bring voters to the ballot box who don't normally vote? CNN and the highest ratings- can Trump really turn those viewers into voters? If so he could win.

He's got more staying power than I imagined.

imagine a world where no one was a professional politician, where good men and women went to D.C. briefly, and did their level best to help improve this country, not to enrich themselves (in that specific capacity, I don't care how successful or not they are otherwise), more like volunteer work, more like a Mormon mission even, more like a Soldier, Sailor, Airman, or Marine, paid just enough to not be absurd, where the focus and expectation is on true service to country, then they went home after a tour or two, tired, feeling satisfied and proud, and so on...

As you know well, that is EXACTLY what the Founding Fathers planned.

Here's to more DT momentum.

BTW, I was a bit hurt by what Dr. Sowell wrote and it showed a side of him that I did not know and did not want to know. There have been a lot of bad things written about DT that are showing the ("conservative") writers more for what they are than what they are trying to say about him... the establishment is more vast than I thought.

Okay, say that DT does (finally) implode. Who is going to pick up the torch for all those who appreciate that he is not part of the establishment that has been screwing us for so long?

As Joe said, "The Ruling Class is scared shitless by Donald Trump." I really think that has to mean something worth noting well.

Who will fill the void?

Is it Cruz? Is he not at least in part of the same said establishment?

Cheers,
Frank

Is he not at least in part of the same said establishment?
Do you mean that as a Senator he is on the "inside"? Sure, he was elected to the Senate.
But he is in his first term and he's hated by the establishment. He's upsetting the apple cart in the Senate. He ran against the establishment, he beat the establishment candidate in the primary.

He understands that the Constitution is a grant of limited powers, from the States, and from the people to a LIMITED federal government.
He understands federalism.

"The Ruling Class is scared shitless by Donald Trump." ... and by Ted Cruz.

"Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible."

A bit OT, but I am still surprised at the difference between married and single women voting patterns.

married women have voted Republican in every presidential election since 1980, with the one exception of 1996, when they preferred President Clinton by 4 percentage points.

Fifty-three percent of married female voters went for Romney.

Among single women a mere 31 percent supported him.

53% of the voters in the 2012 election were women.

Thank you. Feeling a bit better at the moment.

If I understood correctly, DT and Cruz have been amicable. That's fine by me.

If it's not going to be DT and Cruz, then Cruz and DT might be even better. Would gladly enjoy seeing Cruz use DT as a steamroller over the establishment.

We are in the most perilous times ever. The speed with which my father is spinning in his grave must be astonishing.

Cruz is playing it smart, sure he would like the Presidents slot, but if he is short of that he would take the VP slot, bide his time under a Trump, let him spread his wings, and at the end of 8 try again. He is very smart, believes in the constitution, and would be a great President.

I was sort of thinking along the same lines...

Get DT in for two terms, Cruz as VP, then Cruz in for two more terms.

That might be long enough to undo some of the damage from the GDCs.

I like the balance of a Trump / Cruz combo. Cruz's socially conservative views need tempering to appeal to a wider audience, yet his brains and Constitutional knowledge and experience are invaluable and nearly unmatched these days. Having the Donald involves also helps overcome Cruz's perceived stiffness and inability to motivate. Whether he shifts to a VP role or as Attorney General he is a significant asset. And I doubt he can win the whole thing himself. It also makes me feel more confident Trump could both win and be successful and be respectful to the Constitution if it goes that way.

Someone like that is better off as chief of staff, not VP.

We are getting well ahead of things now....
but a VP can be as involved (or not involved) as the President wants him to be.

The two best candidates are in good positions right now. Trump has double the support of anyone else. Even if half of his supporters walk he's still going to be on top. I don't see that happening over Carly's face, but if it does Cruz is drafting right behind him. Trump's supporters would probably go to Cruz or stay home. They are the passionate ones who are fed up with the establishment. They aren't going to Rubio, Bush or Christie.

It's easy to climb like Carly is doing, but as Carson is learning it's harder to stay there when the focus is on you. Her record at HP is going to take her down at some point.

I could be wrong, but I don't think much has changed in the past week.

After reading all of the above statements (and mis-statements!), I have no idea how this clusterf@#k of so-called debates will help choosing a final candidate. Nevertheless, I can offer this astute observation: If we can't defeat the putrid garbage of Hillary or Biden being offered up by the democrats, then this country has no hope and no future because the electorate has become too stupid and/or to corrupt to realize what they are about to lose.

I shall await the results from within my fortified bunker along with "my little friend" and my cyonide pill!

The debates are more for the amusement of the media outlets than anything else. Like the NFL Draft Day, most will be gone by the start of the season. Thankfully, I have On Demand and don't have to waste my time with them.
