Is it just me, or does anyone else give less that a crap about the WNBA. They're in the news constantly and it just seems to be another group of thugs (less highly paid than the male counterpart thugs) getting attention by acting like animals.

Just sayin'............

Only because of the presence of the rookie Caitlin Clark. Otherwise, they would still be in the dark.

That's what the other WNBA players and talking heads don't get. Thug ball isn't going to bring women and families to the stands. Black lesbians expressing repeated prejudice against a white heterosexual isn't going to bring women and families to the stands either.

On the other hand, Caitlin Clark is the all-american gal with both a style of basketball and a personality that puts women and families in the stands. At last report, overall WNBA attendance is up 150% this season and the Indiana Fever's attendance is up nearly 400%.

The NBA has been subsidizing the WNBA with $15M annually because they can't put buts in seats whether its arenas, sports bars, or the recliner. For the first time, the WNBA has a chance to be profitable and the rocket surgeons are mad that it's the Caitlin Clark effect and are fighting it instead of embracing it.

It’s Social Media’s doing using what started as the Caitlyn Clark and Angel Reese feud then people expounding on the race issue.
The WNBA/NBA took full advantage they had Indiana draft the country white girl and Chicago draft the ghetto black girl.

It will fizzle out in a year or so.

I was in Indy a few weeks ago on a Sunday when there was a game it was pretty wild how many folks kids, women, GROWN MEN were wearing Clark jerseys.
I wonder how long till they pay a game in Lucas Oil Stadium.

One thing that was a little frustrating was there were a lot of people especially little girls wearing shirts that said “Everyone is watching women’s sports!”

Which is just about the farthest thing from the truth.

I care just enough to make this post about how little I care. This goes for most sports, for that matter.

Yeah, seems about the same for the Olympics.

Why bother? I've got to make sure the paint dries.

No, but I love watching the women's college game. The girls college game is really amazing. They are playing some fantastic basketball.

Growing up in Iowa I am watching her and the fever.

American media thrives on tumultuous aspects of everything, weather there is competition or not.

Caitlin's contribution to women's hoops is undeniable.

With that comes the petty high school jealousy.

What goes on on the court and in the media ain't the same, a lot of the time

I just wonder if the drama is real or manufactured to hype the WNBA so the NBA can stop subsidizing them. Maybe I'm too cynical though.

It’s on both sides.

LeQuit got his son drafted by the Lakers. Nepotism anyone? Oh and he got his buddy, JJ, in as the new LA Laker head coach. Except..he has never coached before, at any level. Not even an elementary school team. Roll Eyes

Fuck all of it.

Both.
THe rivalry that Clark and Reese had in college was too good for the NBA to not take advantage of. The Bird vs Magic rivalry in college and then into the pros, arguably saved the NBA; not being dummies, the WNBA is looking to capture that same surge in popularity. Clearly its working, at least for where ever Clark plays as attendance figures have surged.
As for the quality of play, I don't find the WNBA particularly engaging or interesting. Many of the players attempt to play the game like it's the 1970's, playing by playground rules and unecessarily physical in order to make-up of the lack of skill.

After the last game of the best of three College World Series Championship between Tennessee and Texas A&M, i saw that it was near the end of a game between Indiana and Chicago, so I tuned in for the last 3:30 of the game, because of the Caitlin Clark/Angel Reece element. It’s going to take more than those two women to elevate the WNBA in the eyes of basketball fans. I thought the level of play was very poor, with a woman failing to even hit the rim from 6’ away, and another throwing up an absolute brick from inside the FT line, which may have touched the side of the rim. Speaking of the free throw line, that’s the other aspect of the game that sucked, free throw shooting—during the time I watched, both teams shot about 30% from the FT line.

Soccer and anything basketball are completely uninteresting to me. I’m happy there are outlets for the talent that occupies each sport, but I will never be a fan of either.

Also, SCREW those who’ve turn these of any sports into progressive outlets of woke crappe! Let them all rot on the vine!

Bird and Magic were great competitors yet kept it professional. Reese is unable to conduct herself as anything other than a ghetto thug. As others have pointed out, that's not going to be a recipe for success.

For all their whining and wailing when Russia put that tall skinny trans guy in prison, for all their inclusivity and woke values and railing against racism, and for all their claims of how unfair it is to have the patriarchy dictating their existence - because the NBA men's game almost totally subsidizes the women's side - what finally put asses in seats wasn't any of that garbage.

What brought fans to the games was a plain straight white girl from Iowa...who is actually good at women's basketball - and they HATE her guts for it. They despise her and everything she represents, because she is living proof none of that other crap matters, and she's head and shoulders better than 95% of them.
