Higher prices ahead…probably much higher Frown

I saw an article that freezing weather has destroyed fully ONE THIRD of the Arabica coffee beans in Brazil that are typically imported into the US. Prices have already been rising but they may skyrocket now due to this.

I’m planning to stock up on a good supply of Aldi German roast and Gevalia, maybe enough to last a year or so until maybe things improve.

I'd rather pay 33% more than drink year-old stale coffee.

Global warming causes the freezing that kills the coffee beans. OMG! I don't drink coffee. As long as the yields for barley, malt, hops, rye, corn, and wheat are OK I couldn't care less about coffee beans.

As distributors of Peets and Caribou coffee's our prices went up a month ago as did other coffee brands at the same time. No mention from our suppliers of another increase and we get notices of price increases pretty well in advance. It's actually a raise for us because people continue to purchase. Gotta have that morning coffee!!.

Thanks for supporting Peets. Neither of you are in our distribution area but it still supports us indirectly. I may just have to have a Karma soon!

I'm in your camp. It's not being snooty but I'd rather do without than try to go cheap by stockpiling coffee that will age.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." I recently discovered Major Dickinson in decaf. Absolutely great coffee, But because Peets is a Berkley Ca company, I'm wondering if it is a left wing company that supports things that most of us would not as does Starbucks, Ben and Jerrys Ice Cream Company etc.

Okay then ... I've heard this before, about 15-20 years ago. And almost contracted a couple of tons of whole bean for resale. The hoopla disappeared within 6-8 weeks when it was discovered supply would meet demand.

Besides, one great cup of coffee followed by an excellent black tea with milk is a fine morning.

And who would have thunked it? With new diet and exercise comes enhanced tasting abilities. The 4-5-pack of assorted black teas, now I can differentiate between them. Fun Fun!
