Until Covid killed 'em ~ Bernie's Burger Bus here in Houston was one of the best burgers I have had.
Plenty of other good ones but hard to recall them all.
Now my own can compete at home anyway.

The original Tommy's in LA. Years ago.

Yep, back in the '70s, when the burger hung out over that huge bun. These were easier to eat if you cut them in quarters. And don't forget the "Ocean of Tea".

Another great c-burger was in some dive café in Duke, OK, about 50-60 miles west of Fort Sill.

There's a hole in the wall place in S Fort Worth off Granbury Rd called Charley's Old Fashioned Hamburgers. Nothing unusually special or unique about the place other than they have a grill that's been well seasoned over the decades. Something about a consistently good burger made maybe a little on the greasy side along with a side of hand cut fries. Man it's good.

Papa Joe burger at a local Zip's drive in. A beef patty, a slice of ham, American Cheese, lettuce and special sauce. I have them add raw onion. A damn fine burger I discovered a couple of months ago. I've had many since then.

First time at a Shake Shack in Vegas and that burger was delicious. There's one opening up locally and I'm excited. Smile

I'd never heard of this place but I checked and there's one in Memphis. I might have to arm up and go try it.

The Tastee Freeze in Duncan, OK. circa 1980's. Best hamburger (double - double) I have ever put down my pie hole. Don't know what Mrs. Price seasoned her hamburgers with, but I have compared every burger since to what she produced out of that kitchen. Man I am hungry now. RIP, Mrs. Price.

2nd fiddle is J&W's Grill in Chickasha, OK. Been a few decades, but their onion burgers were outstanding. Still open, and sure just as good as ever. Have to make a road trip one of these days.

One of the best burgers is in Sausalito CA, right on Bridgeway, the main street.

Hamburgers Sausalito, they have a rotary open flame grill right in the front window, nice big beefy with grilled buns and fixins. Dang now I want to go to Sausalito!

The line into that place is long all day on weekends, you can't pass by it without getting one, think I bought one at 10 am one day...

The long defunct Wine Cellar in Bethlehem, PA. The cheeseburger had the cheese on the inside of the patty. Cooked on a flattop with great local buns and your choice of toppings, heaven. If one was lucky (and interested in getting lucky), one would get the coal cellar. A former coal bin with a small table. Excellent for wooing a young lady. Sadly, the Wine Cellar closed over 30 years ago.

Let me help you out. Which way did you come in?

Holy cow - I didn't notice that either. I'm only a few hours south, and my bride will LOVE a surprise road trip to this joint. There aren't words to express how big a fan she is of their burgers, not to mention fries, shakes and adult beverages.

Funny - that location even has toilet paper on menu!

Thanks fuz.

There is a place here in Houston called the Lankford Grocery, and they make a great burger. On Thursday, the chicken fried steak special is awesome, too.

Was it there in the middle '70s? I don't remember it, but I was a kid.
