According to Joe Zucker in Bleacher Report (just one of several news stories out there).
I don’t have the capability of linking a BR news story, but here’s CBS Sports on the move. CBS Sports on USC & UCLA _______________________________________________________ despite them

Wow!!! Big Ten becoming bi-coastal with this expansion. I'll be honest, I was hoping expansion would be from: Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity DISCLAIMER: These are the author's own personal views and do not represent the views of the author's employer.

Yeah, sports travel between the Eastern Time Zone schools and California. Spanning the time zones of the US makes tv broadcasting interesting too. I’ll add, I would rather have seen ND and the old Big 8 schools too, but the logic of geography already went out the window. _______________________________________________________ despite them

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Joining the ACC for everything except hockey and football made sense. It is about the money and tradition. Many of the older alums alums have had it with Swarbrick and the Shamrock series. ND used to play Purdue every year. No more. Same with other teams. Having to play a certain number of ACC teams every year is bad enough. With the exception of Clemson and a few others there is not much competition.

I was under the impression that the "super league" already exists. It goes by the name "Southeastern Conference." But I guess when you think elites, you don't typically jump to thoughts of Vanderbilt, Mizzou and Mississippi State, do ya now? ________________________________________________ "You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. This is part of an alliance with the Big10, Pac12 and SEC, conference realignment. Texas and Oklahoma are leaving the Big 10 for the SEC, so the Big 10 needs to add two teams to the conference to be a viable conference, the Big 8 doesn't sound great.

Some articles I’ve read say the move means that the “alliance” is/was short-lived. _______________________________________________________ despite them

Texas and oklahomo are Big 12 not Big Ten. This is Big Ten expansion not recovery of losses. Ego is the anesthesia that deadens the pain of stupidity DISCLAIMER: These are the author's own personal views and do not represent the views of the author's employer.

Husband, Father, Aggie, all around good guy! |
That is going to suck for Eastern time zone fans with the 7pm west coast evening games starting at 10pm. So these two will make a 16 team Big 10.

Thank you Very little |
Yeah I got those conferences mixed up... Either way, SEC....

Someone doesn't watch much college football, do they? Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed. Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists. Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

Thank you Very little |
Well, don't watch Big 8 or Little 12, considering it's not really big time college ball, for that we watch SEC...

Cute. The “Big 8” was dissolved in 1996. Some of us remember the SEC getting spanked deep and frequently back then. _______________________________________________________ despite them

As a graduate of two Big 10 universities with a son heading off to a third this fall (all original "real" B10 schools!), this is just sick and wrong!

As a graduate of a Big 10 Univ myself, it just seems wrong. I read it earlier and thought whatever... I watch more SEC anyways, (always did) except when it came to Texas, Texas AM, OK State. I have followed them since I was little because that is where i tried to play ball.

Coming soon is a 24-36 team super league that stretches coast to coast. It will license the schools names and rent the stadiums for games but will otherwise be unconnected. No athletes playing at being students. No need for classes. Just paid employees in a developmental league for the NFL. Unless the money becomes big enough to make it a competitor. With no eligibility concerns why not keep paying a great player to stick around? Why should the Alabama boosters footing the bill watch their guys move on? The college teams left behind will proceed as they operate now but free from the arms race. Or maybe there will be a relegation system like euro soccer. In any event the money has won and the quaint Saturday afternoons at old State U are lost. Unmitigated greed won. Time will tell if those in charge have killed the golden goose.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ I doubt it. You have to have fans to support the games. Some of these kids actually want a four year degree. The majority of college football athletes will never play in the National Felon League.
