China Proposes A Law Allowing Citizens To Sue US For Starting Coronavirus Pandemic

One month ago, the state of Missouri became the first in the nation to file a lawsuit against China over their role in the coronavirus pandemic. Also named in the suit were the Communist Party of China, the government of Wuhan City, and the Wuhan Institute of Virology, along with the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Filed in late April in the Eastern District of Missouri, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt accused China of knowing that "COVID-19 was dangerous and capable of causing a pandemic, yet slowly acted, proverbially put their head in the sand, and/or covered it up in their own economic self-interest."

Yet in a world where China has likewise accused the US of creating the coronavirus, why where there no lawsuits seeking similar damages from the US? Well, there will be soon: according to the Post, China’s legislature has proposed drafting a sovereign immunity law that would allow Chinese citizens to pursue legal actions against the United States over the coronavirus pandemic.

Citing China’s state-run media, the report said the Communist Party is seeking to amend an existing law that would allow legal action against “other countries.”

The Chinese lawmaker leading the efforts, Ma Yide, told the Global Times that the law would "ensure Chinese citizens’ and companies’ rights to sue the Us over its blame game and cover-up of information during the pandemic." Ma said one of the things Chinese citizens should be able to sue over is the claim from the Chinese Foreign Ministry that the US military brought the coronavirus to China.

"Many believe that U.S. soldiers brought the epidemic to Wuhan. Others believe that the U.S. has hidden key information, which led to the global health crisis. Why can’t Chinese citizens and companies sue the U.S. government?" Ma told Chinese media.

If the proposal should pass, Chinese residents could move ahead with lawsuits that are beginning to surface.

Liang Xuguang, a lawyer from Wuhan where the first cases were reported in late December, has sued the US government, accusing it of spreading misinformation, the report said.

The proposal set forth in China’s National People’s Congress which concluded today, would naturally be in retaliation for lawsuits brought against China and the ruling Communist Party by several US states and a number of countries around the world.

The suits, one of which was noted above, accuse China of silencing doctors who were raising alarms that the coronavirus was a contagious respiratory disease in the early days of the outbreak and of pressuring foreign countries not to impose travel restrictions on Chinese nationals. They also claim China used its influence with the World Health Organization to downplay the severity of the outbreak.

In addition to Missouri, Mississippi has also sued the Chinese Communist Party, while Texas, New York and Florida have taken legal action against China.

They reported the 100k thing last night on Fox News in Dallas, the local Fox channel, nightly local news. They covered it but definitely weren't doing backflips about it. Covid isn't dominating the nightly local news anymore. I think they spent more time on the Minnesota riots and local high school graduation ceremonies than they did Covid. My county is still at like .001 or .002 of the population affected with it.

My gym finally opens back up Monday and they are talking about opening up our local water parks over the next 2 weeks so shit is starting to get to normal, the beginning phases. We are having more cases per day here, and more deaths but it's not sensational like the national news outlets report.

I had to do a vendor escort at my office today to clear some alarms and work was a ghost town but we are having a phased approach with people going back in the office slowly starting in a week. All I do is not face touch, regularly sanitize my hands and wear the fucking mask where I have to/required.

I even went by my gym, banged on the door and talked to the new manager. He said masks are optional for members, but all staff will have them on. They will open for 1 hour increments only starting Monday and in the beginning so they can hose the place down between appointment groups. Thank Jesus. Two weeks appointments go to 1.5 hours. I think they are just CYA at this point.

Sounds like in a month we'll mostly be back to normal.

Local indoor shooting range in Ashburn opens up on Saturday. Members only, requiring appointments to visit. They say masks are strongly recommended. Guess I'll find out Monday afternoon if they require them.

Looking forward to shooting again.....

Well you might want to add Restoration Hardware to that list. Was there today to do some work. The store is closed, but employees bare there and you can make an appointment to shop.

After a minute or two the manager asked "what happened to your mask?" "What mask?" "I thought you were wearing one?" "Nope." "Well you can't come inside without one." "I just did. Fine, I'll be right back."

After that whole thing I get my personal information taken down, and a mini medical exam. I guess they are tracking every person that walks in their door.

Fuck that place.

Additionally the stupid ass manager wanted to waste my time and tell me how to do my job. Problem was with a hydraulic elevator for unloading trucks. She says it goes up, but won't go down, it's an electrical problem. "Nope, it's not". "Yes it is." "How do you know that?" "You just told me." "What?" "You said it works one way, but not the other, so it's got power." "But it's a electrical problem." "Nope." "It is." "Still nope."

That went on for like five minutes of me explaining if it has power going in one direction, it has power period. Finally I got her to understand that it had power. Tested controls, contactors, fuses, etc. Told her there was nothing I could do. I wanted so bad to just tell her how stupid she was being, both mask and common knowledge. Instead I walked the line of patronizing and polite, maybe crossed it a tiny bit, but my God she and her companies policies were stupid.

The CCP is more afraid of their own people and what will happen if 1 Billon Chinese rise up en masse and overrun the major cities, including Beijing. Despite dense populations of the major cities, they comprise maybe a third of the population. With the Great Firewall of China, and their Surveillance State, it is all about controlling the masses and keeping the CCP in power.

The accusation against the US Soldiers is pure propaganda to divert blame from the CCP. They don't care how absurd it sounds to anyone in the world, except that the average Chinese citizen believes it. The narrative that foreign people brought the WuFlu to China has resulted in a lockdown of the border and poor treatment of non-Chinese including refusal to serve at restaurants and refusal to rent hotel rooms. Unfortunately, Africans seem to be the worst treated, despite the fact that Africa had nothing to do with the WuFlu, but you know, Ebola and AIDS, so they must be contagious with something. The sad part is that it seems to be working.

Absolutely. The tyrant's order stipulated that health reasons are exempted and they can't ask what your condition is, so we will see which businesses really want my business or which ones will go full tyrant mode.

Shortly after all of this panic started, I half jokingly / half seriously told my wife, "If you want to solve this problem, the government needs to run PSA's on every TV and radio station over and over again informing men that they need to wash their hands after using the restroom. And then every public business needs to post an employee in all men's rooms and no man is allowed to enter until he agrees to wash his hands after he is done and if he does leave without washing his hands, he is trespassed from the business and not allowed to return. Heck, not only will we stop coronovirus in its tracks, we will probably drastically reduce the flu and common cold while we are at it."
