the city’s infamous “don’t snitch” reputation combined with generations of impoverished people growing up in gang families makes this a daunting challenge. In the end, the people of the city of Baltimore are the only ones who can turn this around, assuming the will exists to do so

Declining homicide clearance rates for African-American victims accounted for all of the nation’s alarming decline in law enforcement’s ability to clear murders through the arrest of criminal offenders, according to a new study of data compiled by the nonprofit Murder Accountability Project (MAP).

The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Criminal Justice Information Services Division in Clarksburg, West Virginia, has estimated the nation’s homicide clearance rate for many years and found up to 90 percent of murders were cleared through the arrest of offenders in the mid 1960s, a rate that steadily declined until reaching 61 percent in 2017. This decline in clearance rates has been widely observed for many years.

90% clearance rate to 61% clearance rate over 50 years

But the Murder Accountability Project's study found declining clearance rates exclusively occurred among homicides of black victims based upon offender-identification data found in the Supplementary Homicide Report (SHR) from 1976 through 2017. Clearance rates for all other races improved.

This racial divide occurred in every region of the nation and in most communities, regardless of size. Major urban centers, suburban neighborhoods, rural counties and tiny cities all generally experienced a large decline in the rate at which black homicides are solved through arrest.

I know logic and facts don’t matter, but trace data proves this to be a complete farce. I seem to remember a report from awhile ago where NYC was complaining about guns from Virginia, but then the data showed that most guns used in crimes in NY traced to NY dealers, or were more than 12 years old. These facts are inconvenient to the gun control proponents.

Subtle sarcasm will never have the slightest effect on the demands of those who want to eliminate our gun rights. We could have an absolute ban on the possession of any firearm in this country, and there would still be two responses to challenges to its effectiveness:

1. “Yes, crimes are still being committed with guns, but that’s because there are so many illegal weapons in circulation. Clearing them all out will take many, many years. That’s why the ban should have been enacted far earlier.”

2. “Yes, crimes are still being committed with guns, but the situation would be far worse without the ban. We must be thankful for what we have accomplished thus far.”

And when national restrictions are only partial, the response is, “Gun control laws in places like Baltimore are not effective at preventing gun violence because most places in the US don’t have such laws. Guns are easily obtained elsewhere and then brought into the city.”

Crowing about homicides in places like Baltimore that have stringent gun rights infringements does nothing for our side.

You forget or omit some facts. Strict gun control and gun laws have everything to do with this. Look at the opposite. Nashville has 3 times the population and zero gun control. 100 homicides per year. Coincidence? Nope. Gangstas know they’ll get their asses shot if they do dirt outside of their corners. The demographics are different. Memphis has a similar demographic. They have a anti-gun rhetoric from the top down in the city. Look at the difference. When the gangstas tried to branch out of Memphis, they tried to spread to Nashville. Many died. They lost interest in any great real estate there and moved to Jackson, TN. Jackson has the virus now thanks to a less than gun friendly leadership. Cause and relation.

Guns come from other places? Yeah. Still not a factor. If magically strict nationwide gun control was enacted, guns would supplement or replace drugs moving northward. Meth is illegal in all 50 states. The black market allows it to run north ward to fill that demand. Guns are no different a commodity.

McNulty couldn’t solve this problem.

Shove their talking points back down their throats. It’s not truthful, and it’s a magic trick. It does everything for “our side”. otherwise it only ensures that AKs, RPKs and RPGs replace stolen Taurus’ in B-More.

Here’s my question-
Ok, the guns came from within NY, or NJ, or VA, or Mars for all that matters.
Where did the trigger pullers come from?
Because WE KNOW the gun just doesn’t go “BANG” all by itself. How many of those trigger pullers were out on a low bond, (an early) probation, (an early) parole? How many of them were arrested and found not guilty or no probable cause?

Heaven forbid someone actually blames SOMEONE! Holds SOMEONE accountable!
Oh, that’s right, they were gonna get out the gang next week, and were in the process of turning their life around. What’s even worse is when someone looks at their record and figures out that if that person was locked up, and away from society, they wouldn’t be able to commit another crime...

The ones I truly feel sorry for are the people trapped in those neighborhoods. It may not be Baltimore I’ve worked in but a ghetto is a ghetto, and there’s always a few decent people trapped in there.

Unsolved Murders

Lots of great data there.

Chicago only makes arrests in about 26% of it's murders.

Baltimore is 35%.

What furthers the problems is that the justice system in each city is more of a revolving door than anything useful.

Note the above percentages are arrests, not convictions. The criminals are allowed to cop plea deals and in most cases, firearms charges aren't prosecuted.

In the past 10 years, nearly 26,000 murders have gone without an arrest in major American cities. Of those, more than 18,600 of the victims — almost three‑quarters — were black.

Anyone wonder who killed them? Because about 3/4 of all murders nationwide are committed by blacks. I'd say its a fair guess who committed most of those unsolved murders.

Other blacks.

I grew up about halfway between D.C. and Baltimore. I remember as a child the adults saying, "A _______ dies every night in Chocolate City" (Washington, D.C.). Crime was rampant back then and the city was 70% black. Gentrification has dropped that number to 47% today.

Homicides in D.C. peaked in 1991 at 479. It was horrific. I think it's under 150 today.

Whatever the reason is, it's not because Baltimore is a "shithole". Media said Trump was wrong about that so, you know....

Demographics. Blacks = 4%.

Here's some data from 5 years ago that keeps it pretty simple:

The actual numbers.

Yes, I know who Jared Taylor is. But he is citing Heather McDonald's gathered data.

They should get an award for the most murders like some cities get the most beautiful or the most friendliest. That would make the city residents something to be happy about.

Well, it’s good to see that at least someone understood my point.
For anyone who thought that I was supporting the usual gun-grabber arguments about the effectiveness of gun control laws, I urge you to actually read the first part of my comments about what the arguments are, not what I believe.

Far too many people on our side seem to think that logic, facts, and even sarcasm on a gun-related forum will change the opinions and efforts of the true believers on the left.
I have followed these issues for nearly 60 years, and if there is one thing I learned in that time, it’s that although efforts to eliminate our rights wax and wane with political seasons, there will always be those who won’t give up regardless of the counter arguments or opinions. And they will always believe that high murder rates committed with guns don’t demonstrate why infringements of other people’s rights should be abandoned, but rather that the solution is greater controls.

(P.S. If you are reading comprehension “challenged,” try again: That is their belief, not mine.)

May I suggest you not be passive aggressive in what you say. Claiming that “it does not help our side” which is false and then trying to be cute about people just not “understanding” that’s not your view is confusing to those who have reading comprehension.

Or it may be the master plan on how people like you forfeited your Rights in Colorado. Either way, I can’t find myself being interested in your “logic” as I have no interest in follow your pattern and giving my Rights away just be be surly.

I'll bet all of us got your point.
I know Sig Forum is pretty popular and does have a vast array of knowledge and members.
But do you really think Pelosi is drinking her morning venom and checking up on the "You will buy a Glock" thread?

The sad thing is, there's a bunch of whack-jobs on the left on whatever forum they have about transgender, Prius driving, vegan retards pounding on their table (granted, it's a rather weak pounding) whining to each other about taking our guns, and we need to shut up because we don't talk or think like them.
