AL.COM: Publix now limiting sale of 6 more items

Publix has added more items to a list of products with purchase limits.

FirstCoastNews reported all Publix stores will limit sales on six items: coconut flakes, dairy whipping cream, half & half creamers, frozen pie shells, frozen hash browns and canola, vegetable and corn oil.

The chain had already restricted sales on canned cranberry sauce, jarred gravy, cream cheese, bacon, rolled breakfast sausage, disposable plates, cups and cutlery, bath tissue, refrigerated snacks such as Lunchables, sports drinks, juices such as Capri Suns, canned cat food and refrigerated pet food.

Customers will be limited to no more than two items on the list. Customers are also limited to buying 10 individual cans or pouches of cat food.

A spokesperson told the station the limits are for all stores in the chain’s seven-state operating area, including Alabama. There is not a set time determined for the limits and the list could change to add or remove items depending on supply.

SIGmonkey is looking for people to smuggle him bacon and bananas.

In related news, Publix Heiress dies at 65 from Alzheimers. Sadly such a young age for that. Diagnosed with Alzheimers at age 59. That sucks, such a cruel disease.

Publix Heiress Dies

LAKELAND — Carol Jenkins Barnett, the daughter of Publix Super Markets founder George W. Jenkins and perhaps Polk County’s most influential philanthropist, died Tuesday night at age 65 of complications from Alzheimer’s disease.

Barnett was diagnosed with younger-onset Alzheimer’s in 2016 at age 59. She died at home in the presence of family members, Publix said in a statement released Wednesday morning.

“The Publix family is deeply saddened by the loss of a great humanitarian and community advocate,” Publix CEO Todd Jones said in a news release. “In addition to her service at Publix, Carol Jenkins Barnett made significant contributions to many nonprofit organizations and for the betterment of all children with investments in early childhood education programs. She will be sorely missed by her family, our associates and the community. Carol had a generous heart and compassionate soul. Her efforts will continue to improve the lives of others for generations.”

The Publix news release said family members requested privacy as they mourned their loss. Barnett is one of seven children of the Publix founder, who died in 1996.

Alzheimer’s disease, a type of progressive dementia that affects memory and thinking and eventually interferes with daily functions, affects more than 6 million Americans, according to the National Institute on Aging. Only about 5 percent of patients develop symptoms before the age of 65, the Mayo Clinic reports.

Barnett and her husband, Barney Barnett, have donated vast sums in recent years to Florida Southern College — Carol’s alma mater — and to Lakeland Regional Health and other local and state entities.

Lakeland Regional Health opened the Carol Jenkins Barnett Pavilion for Women and Children, an eight-floor addition, in 2019. That resulted from the largest donation ever made to the hospital, one that Barnett announced on Mother’s Day in 2016.

A Lakeland native, Barnett began working for Publix in 1972 as a cashier at a store in the Grove Park Shopping Center, the company said. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in business and marketing from Florida Southern College in 1979, she worked in Publix’s corporate marketing research and development department.

Barnett was elected to the Publix board of directors in 1983 and served until she resigned in 2016 after announcing her diagnosis. She also served on the board of Publix Super Markets Charities.

I was at a Publix liquor store this week and saw several open spaces where liquor should have been. When I asked about it I was told they are having a hard time getting product from their liquor vendors.
I know some distiller/bottlers are ha I g a hard time getting bottles.

Liquor store shelves are well stocked up here in NH. Of course it is a major source of revenue for the State - so I am sure they manage their supply chain very tightly.

Sigmonkey - are you saying that Publix requires a vaccination passport for all shoppers? There are none of these stores up here in NE.

Brandon said so in his presser today, along with his flak talking about how they fixed the supply chain. Let’s go!

No, they do not. It is mockery and derision pointed to the same idiocy, groupthink, and BS that follows the whole "COVID" narrative. Including these "supply chain shortages" and how they are being handled.

Almost all the woes of the world today, stem from that hype.

Yes.

Why?

And the responses by government, industries, consumers, etc. ?

I have said from before the initial "lockdowns" of March 2020, that the incorrect "viral hysteria" would result in greater damage than anything the virus itself would bring.

Here we are, and we have a long road in front before this fool's journey is complete.

I remain unmoved.

You did and you were correct.

Yet there remain many who still do not see it.

I was one of those who initially supported the lock-downs. "Flatten the curve," they said. "It'll only be for two weeks," they said. Made sense. Between the virus having an up-to-fourteen-day incubation period and sick people too stupid to stay home when they were sick: It made sense.

Then two weeks turned into four. "They just want to make certain," I felt. That turned into two months. The curve got flattened. The emergency overflow bed facilities remained empty. Yet the lock-downs continued--with no end in sight.

That's when I realized I'd been had.

"My" government and the U.S. healthcare industry lost what little faith I had in them with their machinations relative to the Wu Flu scaredemic.

Sadly, all indications suggest you're correct. Again.

More directly on-topic: Every time my wife's gone shopping she's come back remarking "The shelves are even emptier than they were last time."

Look, the lies are becoming more and more blatant and more and more desperate. They tell us inflation is up 7% while home prices to own or rent are up 20-30% and fuel is up 50% from just last year. They either one, have no clue what they're doing, or two, they are purposely causing all this pain for the population. I personally believe its a combination of both. What's most important is that nothing substantial is being to done to ease inflation or solve the supply chain issues. If anything, the new bills and regulations being put forth by this administration are destined to make things much, much, worse.

Hate to say it again, but this is what you get with the country's first openly retarded president in charge.

That seems to be exactly what I'm seeing at my grocery store as well.

And just to add icing to the cake, a friend of mine who owns a Commercial Construction company told me yesterday he has a lot of broken equipment sitting in his storage lot right now waiting on parts while he and his crews fall further behind on their contracts.
