Come in my neighborhood in Boston and use that term, you'll need 6 concealed guns. Wrong term, last time someone said something stupid like that where I live they were picking up their teeth due to some people taking a strong offense to the term.

What's your neighborhood? Leftist diversity is a pillar of Boston politics today. (for reference - I spent a few of my teen years living in Revere)

when I was in the Gro biz, the last store I ran was in the hood,

fuckers begging for stuff for junewhatever celebrations, bottle water, etc etc, for the big deal down some church or park,

we donated, something, and had to, due to politics etc,

now, out of that biz and flat out do not care,

wife's office hired a new partner, and she decided they needed to close for all holidays,

so wife is off tomorrow, for a paid holiday, and the office is as whitebread as can be, but 90% liberal, so,,

A noble thought/ commemoration (end of slavery in the US) that is sadly misused now by the libtards. In my AO, the local democommunist grifters scream and wail about "voter oppression" during the Juneteenth period. Yeah, the only "voter oppression" is keeping unqualified people from voting, and making sure people only vote once per election.

I still have to work today. So be it.

As in most major cities, but especially in Chicago, I'm wondering if you can give us a scorecard tomorrow morning? Nationwide is a bogus holiday as led to an extreme amount of violence, particularly amongst the gangbanger community. They have a funny way of celebrating, I suppose.

Our union, in a kind of disappointingly predictable knee-jerk, make a small sect of the population feel good, move traded President's Day as a holiday for Juneteenth in 2020. The only upside is that holiday time off must be used by July 1st, so if you work Juneteenth they'll let you take the accrued holiday hours as pay.

Well, I just read in the Atlantic City Press, Chicago score 19 shot. I was a helluva holiday.

Um… fellas? The linked Wikipedia article states his birth date as January 19, 1807. Confused

Politicians seem to have forgotten that they work for us, not the other way around.

As a banker, I will take any paid 3 day weekend they give me. Mail will get here eventually.

As a kid and young teen in the 80’s in San Jose I remember them having a Juneteenth festival downtown. Maybe a parade, maybe city organized, not sure, I never attended. It’s still a thing and much larger now. Doesn’t bother me celebrating the freeing of all slaves. Points out the extreme lack of technology that it took 2 months from end of the war to notify everyone. The shootings at their celebrations is of course almost de rigueur. Maybe if folks were as heated about this event 160+ years ago as modern day slavery that we have cleaned up to call trafficking.

June 19 is the day the US GOV executed the Rosenbergs for treason. Although the wife’s treasonous activity is questionable, her own brother testified against her then recanted she was still a hard core commie.
