We often bitch about horrible service here but I just had a stellar experience with Amex.

Got an Amazon Business card earlier this year. Last month I ordered a book on Amazon and this card was made my default payment. I wasn’t aware of this and today I got a text saying that it was the due date for payment. Wife tried to set up payment but got locked out. I called the number on the card, got a native English speaker who knew exactly what to do when I explained the situation. Took care of everything in maybe 45 seconds asked if there was anything else she could do and ended the conversation in a most pleasant manner without pushing any added services. Well done Amex.

It's sad that customer service in general has sunk so low that, now, when we receive service the way it should normally be, we are pleasantly surprised. Not a knock at you, Leemur. Just a general observation on state of things.

I know that some folks are down on Amex, but I use their card almost exclusively because of the service I receive from them.

I’ve been a card holder since 1987.

They know what customer service is supposed to be like.

Amex CS is the best. They have gone above and beyond for me several times in the last 40 years.

I have their Platinum Card and Amex Delta Reserve Card. They're the only cards I use with very rare exceptions when I have to use my USAA or Navy FCU Visa cards.

Had Amex card since 1970, only card for a long time now. Always excellent service. Great for international travel. Got special recognition and a gift from Tiffany’s on 50 years of membership. Any issue has always been quickly resolved.

My experience with them was not so stellar. Costco membership card tied to an AMEX card.

They screwed up, jerked me around for weeks and “fixed” the issue. Sent second monthly statement to our old address that we had moved from three years previously. How,did they get that address? The application asked for the previous address if not at current one for five years. Somebody screwed up especially as the first statement came to the correct address.

Well about two months after this my new statement came in. Twenty nine and a half percent interest! This is after they reversed all late charges, reactivated my card and admitted in a letter that the error was their fault, I insisted on the letter.

I called them, the excuse was “You were in default for thirty days”.

Cancelled the card right there and then. Told them to not solicit me for any or all AMEX products in the future.

I heartily concur. And they're not my go to credit card. But whenever I have an issue, I can count on them to take my side. With other cards, I've had the feeling of being treated like I was a scammer.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. I almost exclusively use Amex because of their great customer service. I don't really worry about interest rates because I pay it off in full every month.

I just called CS On Monday and would wholeheartedly agree with the Excellent service. I have a Platinum and a Gold.

Our son used to manage a CS center for American Express. By the way, they pay very well for entry level, qualified applicants. One time I called in and got a very nice girl who kind of paused when I said my last name. I said "Does that last name ring a bell?" She said yes and I asked her if she knew my son. She said that he had hired both her and her brother. Small world.

I also use AMEX card often for most my personal expenses. Relieved to read the good experiences. They’ve done me so well over the years, I’ve never had need to call them.

Been a cardholder since 1983, use one for business and one for personal. Unbelievable service. Also a big fan of their Shop Small promotion to support small business.

While there are cards with better value for me, Amex customer service is why I keep my expensive Platinum Card.
