30 years ago was a weird summer for me. I was 12 and my brother was 7 and our mom has just left. My dad had to quit his career because his job required travel and he couldn’t do that with two kids to take care of so he was working at a little used car dealership.

Honestly though while a little confusing we had a lot of fun this summer. Dad was making okay money and he was rid of the woman who’d been making his life hell. By the next summer he’d started dating again and things kind of went downhill but the summer of 1990 we were basically three dudes living in a house together without a woman being a bitch. Pizza boxes, soda and beer cans adorned the counter tops and dirty laundry was kept in the washer and clean was kept in the dryer.

Had just graduated college and been commissioned as a 2LT in the USAF. Waiting for a date to show up for pilot training. Working some bullshit job in Phoenix in the summer to pay the bills. Got the letter to show up at Laughlin AFB, TX (Del Rio by the sea!) the first week of October.

Where was I 30 or 40 years ago. I'll split the time frame.

35 years ago (1985) I was retiring with 22 plus years pension from the Teamster Union. And starting my 2nd career as a State Corrections Officer I job I retired from in 2010 with 25 years service pension. and in 2010 was starting my 3rd career move as part time rent-a-cop which I now have 10 years with.

I was 22 years old and had just broke off an engagement with a woman I had been with for a few years.
Working where I work now as it's a family business. Things have changed for sure in that 30 years with my business.
Lots of memories from then until now.

Just returned to the Seattle area having gotten out of the Marines May 1990.

Had started an electronics job (that didn’t last long), found an apartment and trying to figure out what I was going with myself.
