From the press release:
The "Margaritaville" icon died peacefully Friday surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs, according to a statement posted to his website and social media accounts.

"He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many," the statement read.

A guy can't ask for much more than that, I guess.

Only knew 2 or 3 of his top 40 songs. But I know he was an ICON to many my and my brothers age. I think my brother had a number of his albums.

I’m truly heartbroken by this. He was a personal hero of mine. He lived life on his own terms. He will be missed.

One of my biggest regrets is not having seen him in concert. I loved most of his work and have numerous albums. The news of his passing was the first thing I saw on waking up, so sad. R.I.P., Jimmy, enjoy Margaritaville.
