At 91% I'll just stay home after all, considering the traffic volumes predicted. I was thinking of driving about 250 miles to get to totality and making it a 1 day round trip.

My house is in the 100% totality, so I'll be able to step out my front door.

Got my glasses yesterday, so I'm ready!

I was a slacker and waited to by the glasses, and they are sold out everywhere or the shipping does not start until the 24th.

I had a set ordered on Amazon and they just cancelled the order.

Oh well maybe someone will have a pair at work I can borrow.

You're in luck archerman; I know a group that's selling them down in Mackay Idaho on the morning of the event. Have a nice drive.

Thanks for the offer, but I think I will pass on the drive, and see if I can borrow a pair at work.

Well, they have cancelled all days off, and all vacation days at work from the 19-22. KY DOT is predicting gridlock, mass panic, stations to run out of gas, businesses to run out of food, blah, blah, blah.

The extra million people that is predicted to be in the area is causing them to freak out.

There will likely be shortages too. Why do I say that? Ever try to get a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread during the forecast period calling for a light dusting? People are panicky. I predict that it likely won't be any different than a normal holiday weekend.

Are they also broadcasting War of the Worlds?

We just ordered some glasses. Not the ones below, girlfriend ordered them because she needed some kind of lens or filter for her camera, so we got free expedited shipping in some kind of set.

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c..._glasses_5_pack.html

You can buy 5 pack for $8 at B&H plus $9.20 for expedited shipping. About $3.50 per pair. These are the 3-D movie style ones, they also have some plastic higher quality looking ones for more.

I have two extra pair from my order. They are yours if you want them. Looks like they are made by Celestron. Email me your address and I'll get them in the mail tomorrow.

Safe travels to those who journey for the viewing.

Cheers~

Same here, 99 point something. I'll either work from home that day or watch it from the balcony at the office.

For the record, I'm really hating this stupid eclipse nonsense. I have to move my son to school (i.e. College of Charleston) that weekend, and I'm paying through the nose for a half-ass hotel room. I also have zero interest dealing with all of these people chasing shadows while we're trying to get him settled in for the fall semester. It just couldn't have been on another weekend could it. Mad

Ok, that's it. /Rant off.

I think my house is in the 97% range so will just walk out on the patio. The wife is going with her sisters to Jeff City (or was it Columbia) to see the entire thing.

If anyone is looking for eclipse glasses, these are in stock, arrived promptly, and having looked at the sun w/ them, seem to work well.

They were around $12 though, now $17 for the same 4.

A friend mentioned to me the warnings about glasses (probably Chinese made) being sold that don’t provide proper protection and the consequent danger of eye damage. Is anyone concerned about that?

I've heard it's best to dance nekkid around a pile of burning money during an eclipse. Do I need hundreds or would twenties be good enough?

Drive hundreds of miles? Pay outrageous hotel rates? For an event lasting 3 minutes or so?
And what if it rains?
Thanks, but pass.
And if you like Hopkinsville, jog over to Cadiz and Land Between The lakes.
After the Eclipsers leave.
