You would think they would have a Coast Guard vessel in the area or some sort of security. At least they moved away when asked. I was waiting for Dr. Evil's submarine to surface and take Bob and Doug and hold them hostage for one gajillionbadillion dollars.

CG cutter Gannet is in the area. Followed them out but looks to be about 8 NM away. Kind of surprised there was not more law enforcement in the immediate area to keep people further away.

The hydraulic lift mechanism to get it on the ship was certainly different than the helicopter hook up and lift onto a carrier in the days of Apollo.

Watched the launch from my rooftop - very cool able to see it up until 1st stage separation. Then the coolest thing - had not seen before. The control thrusters fire in pulses and you could see the waves come off the booster in burst of gas (binoculars). Meanwhile when the 2nd stage fired it lit up and could follow it longer than in the past - think the high cloud extended / magnified the light. Need to find a way to photograph this again on the next night launch. 4 new spacemen on the way to the space station “Forigive your enemy, but remember the bastard’s name.” -Scottish proverb

We are about 50 miles west of the Cape. My wife always gets up early to watch the launches from our back yard. We have been doing this since we moved to Florida over 20 years ago starting with the Space Shuttle launches. It was also kind of neat to hear the sonic booms when the Space Shuttle used to return back to the Cape. The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.
