Wow, good job. We paid off our house and then bought a lake house that is worth 3 times our paid for house—go figure that one.

Congrats. Especially on overcoming cancer.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." Viktor Frankl, Man's Search for Meaning, 1946.

That's awesome. Goal reached. I'm told that only a small % of homes are paid off -- I don't recall the exact number but something like 8% or a little less is the number that a realtor gave me some years ago.

Just curious, is there a "next goal" to meet, since obviously you are goal driven? Noty to sound too "Zig Ziglar" on you, but goal oriented people tend to move through goals, not just meet them. It just seems like with all that motivation plus success, there has to be a "next goal" in sight. Plus the money flow that was going into the mortgage has to go *someplace*. early retirement? More travel? More toys?

You have done exceedingly well for yourself and family. I struggled my whole life just to make ends meet, and only had my house paid off shortly before I retired. Kudos!
