And the homeowner complied. Doorbell video of the exchange in the link. https://www.theblaze.com/shows...titem=1#rebelltitem1 BLAZETV STAFF | July 22, 2022 Two ATF agents and a state trooper recently showed up at the home of a man in Delaware, seemingly without a warrant and in tactical gear, asking to see his legally-purchased guns and log the serial numbers. Their request was caught on tape by a front door camera and posted online anonymously. A reporter from National File shared the video on social media with the caption, "ATF agents and a #Delaware state cop show up warrantless at a man's home demanding to see his firearms." In the video, an agent allegedly from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives said he was there to verify if the homeowner still had two recently purchased firearms. “All I’m doing is verifying that you have it, you got two different purchases," the agent said, pointing to a document that presumably shows the purchases. "If you have them, I’m out of here. That’s how quick it is. Yeah. Do you have them with you by any chance?” the agent said. “They’re in my safe,” the homeowner answered. “If you can unload them and bring them out, we can go out to your foyer here, check them out, write the serial numbers and we’re out of here,” the agent said. “It will take five seconds,” added the second agent. At this point, a third person who appears to be a member of the Delaware state police explained, “the reason we’re out here is obviously gun violence is at an uptick. We want to make sure, we’ve been having a lot of issues with straw purchases. One of the things, indicators we get is someone making a large gun purchase, and then a lot of times, we’ve been there and ‘oh, those guns got taken.'” “The idea is that when you purchase more than two guns at a time it generates a multiple sales report and it comes to us and we have to check them out. That’s all that is. You did nothing wrong – absolutely zero," the first agent said before adding, "I noticed you were stopped in Philly though with one of your guns?” "I just – I didn’t expect –” the homeowner stammered. “Oh no. It just came up. We came here, look, I’m telling you. There’s an email from the federal side saying can you make sure this guy’s got his guns. If you recently purchased a whole bunch of guns, if we can look at them and just scratch them off,” the agent continued. “We can look at them and write which ones you just bought, so we can save a trip from coming back. We’ll confirm that you have them,” said the second agent. When the homeowner went inside to retrieve the guns, the state trooper, who didn't seem to know they were on camera, observed, “He doesn’t believe we’re cops.” On the radio program Thursday, Glenn Beck showed the "stunning" video and he explained what to do if the same thing happens to you. "Here's what you need to know, and tell your family this, if the ATF, FBI, anybody steps up and says, 'we just need to see your guns or we just need to verify that you have these guns,' say 'no, show me the warrant.'" I thought we had a thread on this but I can't find it. Here's the original video https://rumble.com/v1cz94p-atf...ans-home-demand.html Hedley Lamarr: Wait, wait, wait. I'm unarmed. Bart: Alright, we'll settle this like men, with our fists. Hedley Lamarr: Sorry, I just remembered . . . I am armed.

As if law enforcement doesn't have better things to do besides bother law abiding citizens at home. Uuuuugh. If they showed up at my place, they'd better have a warrant if they wanted to see any of my normal firearms. However, if they ask to see my suppressors and tax stamps, am I required to show those? ________________________________________ -- Fear is the mind-killer. Back, and to the left |
They have sent these guys around as probes, though they are probably not in the loop on their true purpose. Just run of the mill power abusing shitheads. The guys in charge of them are looking for an incident for the administration to exploit. Any information they glean from people willingly giving cooperation is just icing on the cake. The one agency most closely associated with firearms should exhibit the most restraint when it comes to the constitutional right to bear arms. This is an egregiously dangerous thing to be doing.

I have been told that the only people who can ask to see tax stamps are IRS agents, since they are authorized to check if appropriate tax was paid...but I would bet the ATF also has some kind of (also unconstitutional) authority to check the firearms themselves. Personally Id show either an IRS or ATF agent my tax stamp abd/or weapons, but anyone else can EAD. And I'm certainly NEVER showing anyone my regular (non-NFA) weapons without a warrant. This message has been edited. Last edited by: dwd1985,

This story and sound byte made the rounds on talk radio last week, but when I checked YouTube I didn't find a video to post, so thanks for posting this story.
I was aware of the Obama era ATF policy in which they were collecting multiple sales reports, on long guns only, from FFLs in 5 states along the southern border, but I've never heard of this happening with handgun purchases in other states. Is this a new ATF policy? Also, obviously LE has the capability of tracking phones and vehicles...but how the hell do they know he stopped in Philly, after purchasing the guns without a warrant? Surveillance team sitting on the gun seller and following whoever made a purchase? Phone or vehicle tracking? Tracking credit card purchases? I can see how a surveillance team might be able to follow a vehicle without a warrant but, unless I'm mistaken, the other tracking means require a warrant unless there is an imminent threat to public safety.

I've always been Crazy! kept me from goin Insane! |
I have been an FFL for 11 years it has been the rule for at least that long buy 2 or more handguns iwithin 5 days of each other multiples form is required. Mexican border states 2 or more semi auto rifles also require the form not sure if all semis or a special list. I'm also not sure if 1 handgun and 1 semi rifle requires the form in those states or not. .[/QUOTE] I was aware of the Obama era ATF policy in which they were collecting multiple sales reports, on long guns only, from FFLs in 5 states along the southern border, but I've never heard of this happening with handgun purchases in other states. Peace through superior firepower |
This type of thing from the ATF is not new, although the threshold for such legally questionable visits appears to have been reduced dramatically. And, oh yes- "gun violence". It's a special, special kind of violence, you see. Studies indicate that people killed with guns are deader than people killed in any other fashion. ____________________________________________________ "I am your retribution." - Donald Trump, speech at CPAC, March 4, 2023

You know, sometimes it takes reading someone else's words before I remember something, and I do now recall that 5 day multiple handgun purchase reporting policy to the ATF. Thanks for your post and checking me!

Bunch of guys in casual clothing (jeans, polo shirts, athletic shoes), facial hair, wearing tactical vests and openly carrying firearms, show up unannounced, no warrant or court orders, wanting to inspect your firearms. A. Invite them inside, depriving the neighbors of a good show, but potentially allowing a home invasion robbery. B. Bring your guns out onto the porch where 3 unknown scruffy characters are waiting with their own guns. That might work out really well. C. Please allow me to see that badge and identification again, then you can wait outside while I call your agency to verify your identities and purpose. While I have them on the line I can give your supervisor a ration of guff about your wardrobe selections and personal hygiene, totally unprofessional, dude. D. How very interesting! All you want is for me to voluntarily surrender my 4th Amendment rights, and encourage that by applying not-so-subtle hints of overpowering force with your tactical nonsense. Have you ever heard the word "duress", ace? How do you think a judge would interpret "consent search" when you show up in raid outfits? E. Please don't come on my property again without a valid warrant or court order. I'll have a lawyer on standby. Some responses might be better than others. Retired holster maker. Retired police chief. *Hmph* On the one hand I'm inclined to help LE whenever and however I can. OTOH: This kind of thing seems like it could get invasive real fast. "America is at that awkward stage. While I would help any LEO, in my opinion ATF is not a legitimate law enforcement agency. They make up their own rules as they go along. As such I have more respect for the garbage collector than I do these thugs.

Man, that very thing really grinds my gears every time I hear it. It's sensationalistic stupidity. Should we grieve less for the family that lost a loved one because they were murdered with a crowbar or tire iron? Should a family mourning the loss of a loved one killed in a knife attack console themselves by saying, "well, it's at least comforting to know that Frank wasn't killed by gun violence"? The entire concept of "gun violence" is ridiculous and meaningless, for any other purpose than gathering evidence and statistics.

It doesn't specifically say but they knew he stopped in Philly. Did he get a ticket or knew by cell phone, etc? Just wondering. Let all Men know thee, but no man know thee thoroughly: Men freely ford that see the shallows. Benjamin Franklin
