La. Gov. Landry Requests National Guard Troops

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry submitted a formal request this week for the Trump administration to deploy National Guard troops to New Orleans and other cities in the Bayou State to address elevated violent crime rates.

In a Monday letter to War Secretary Pete Hegseth, Landry said that he was seeking to activate up to 1,000 Louisiana National Guard personnel through the end of fiscal year 2026.

"The proposed mission and scope for the Louisiana National Guard would be to deploy throughout the state to urban centers, supplement law enforcement presence in high-crime areas, provide logistical and communication support, and secure critical infrastructure," the Republican governor wrote. "All operations will adhere to established rules for use of force and prioritize community outreach, to ensure transparency and public trust."

Landry identified Shreveport, Baton Rouge and New Orleans as places within his state with high crime rates and critical staffing shortages.

"These manpower shortages limit their ability to effectively address this public safety threat and consequently, incidents of homicide, carjacking, and gang-related violence, significantly exceed the national average," he said in the letter.

The state's ability to address its crime problem is further complicated by its "vulnerability to natural disasters, particularly hurricanes," Landry said, adding that the combination of circumstances "strains" the already limited state and local public safety resources.

Louisiana's request comes after President Donald Trump mobilized the National Guard in other cities and states to combat crime and quell unrest stemming from protests over his immigration enforcement operations.

The governor pointed to those activations in his letter, writing that his request was building upon "the successful model of Title 32 deployments in other jurisdictions, including Washington, D.C., and Tennessee" and said that it will "provide critical support during several high-profile events, including the Bayou Classic, Sugar Bowl, and Mardi Gras."

The Pentagon also recently called up approximately 200 Oregon National Guardsmen following the president's announcement that he would deploy troops to Portland. City and state officials filed a lawsuit in response, saying that they "have the capacity to manage public safety without federal interference."

Landry also warned illegal immigrants living in his state in a press release on Monday, saying that "[g]ang members, rapists, drug dealers, and human smugglers have no place in this country, and we are no longer giving them a free pass."

"If you come to our country illegally and terrorize our people and community, Louisiana will be giving you a new address, Louisiana Lockup," he said, referring to the migrant detention facility located along the Mississippi River surrounded by alligator-filled swamplands.

The illegal immigrant superintendent of Des Moines Public Schools in Iowa claimed to have six children with five different mothers on an immigration application, three of whom were born within a year of each other, sources told The Daily Wire.

Ian Andre Roberts of Guyana, who had a deportation order from May 2024, was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Friday, according to the agency.

Roberts previously tried to apply for immigration status after overstaying his student visa, which was issued in 1999, according to sources. The application, which listed his children and lovers, was later denied, according to sources.

Two of his children are 11 years old, while the others are 12, 18, 22 and 30, sources said, citing his immigration paperwork. The oldest child was born in Guyana, while the five others were born in the United States.

Following the arrest, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations St. Paul Field Office Director Sam Olson questioned how Roberts was hired, given his lack of immigration status.

“This should be a wake-up call for our communities to the great work that our officers are doing every day to remove public safety threats. How this illegal alien was hired without work authorization, a final order of removal, and a prior weapons charge is beyond comprehension and should alarm the parents of that school district,” Olson said.

Roberts also had weapons charges from Feb. 5, 2020, according to ICE.

The law firm assisting Roberts with his case did not immediately respond to The Daily Wire’s request for comment.

When he was initially approached by the ICE officers, Roberts fled in his vehicle, later found abandoned in the nearby woods, according to ICE. The officers eventually tracked him down with the help of the state police.

At the time of the arrest, officers found that Roberts was carrying a loaded handgun, $3,000 in cash, and a fixed-blade hunting knife, according to ICE.

The feds are investigating how Roberts was able to obtain a firearm since illegal immigrants are barred from such activity.

LOS ANGELES — Three women opposed to President Donald Trump’s intense immigration raids in Los Angeles were indicted Friday on charges of illegally “doxing” a U.S. Customs and Immigration agent, authorities said.

Ashleigh Brown, Cynthia Raygoza and Sandra Carmona Samane face charges of disclosing the personal information of a federal agent and conspiracy, according to an indictment unsealed late Friday.

Brown, who is from Colorado and goes by the nickname “AK,” has been described as one of the founders of“ice_out_ofla” an Instagram page with more than 28,000 followers that plays a role in organizing demonstrations against immigration enforcement, according to the social media page and an email reviewed by the Los Angeles Times.

According to the indictment, the three women followed an ICE agent from the federal building in downtown L.A. to the agent’s residence in Baldwin Park.

They live-streamed the entire event, according to the indictment. Once they arrived at the agent’s home, prosecutors allege the women got out and shouted “la migra lives here,” and “ICE lives on your street and you should know,” according to the indictment.

“Our brave federal agents put their lives on the line every day to keep our nation safe,” Acting U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli said in a statement. “The conduct of these defendants are deeply offensive to law enforcement officers and their families. If you threaten, dox, or harm in any manner one of our agents or employees, you will face prosecution and prison time.”

An attorney for Samane, 25, of Los Angeles, said she intends to plead not guilty at an arraignment next month and declined further comment.

The Federal Public Defender’s Office, which is representing Brown, 38, of Aurora, Colorado, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Court records did not list an attorney for Raygoza, 37, of Riverside.

Footage published to the ice_out_ofla Instagram page seemed to capture Brown’s arrest earlier this week. The video shows a man in green fatigues and body armor saying he has a warrant for her arrest, while reaching through what appears to be the shattered driver’s side window of her car. Brown asks what the warrant is for while the man can be seen holding a collapsible baton. Then the video cuts out.

Posts on the Instagram page describe Brown as a “political prisoner.”

A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s office in Los Angeles did not immediately respond to questions about whether the women specifically shouted out the agent’s address online or what the defendants specifically did to “incite the commission of a crime of violence against a federal agent,” as the indictment alleges.

Federal law enforcement leaders have repeatedly expressed concern about the “doxing” of agents with ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Patrol as residents of Los Angeles, Chicago and other cities continue to protest the Trump administration’s sprawling deportation efforts.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem threatened to prosecute people for publishing agents’ personal information last month in response to fliers in Portland that called for people to collect intel on ICE.

But the indictment returned Friday appeared to be the first prosecution related to such tactics.

Critics of the Trump administration’s operations have expressed outrage over ICE and CBP agents wearing masks and refusing to identify themselves in public while hunting undocumented immigrants throughout Southern California.

Last week, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed into law a bill that forbids federal law enforcement from wearing masks while operating in California. The supremacy clause of the U.S. Constitution dictates that federal law takes precedence over state law, leading some legal experts to question whether state officials can actually enforce the legislation.

One of the drivers accused of ramming into the law enforcement vehicle was armed with a semi-automatic weapon, according to DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
