The so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” has tax money available for things like this:

quote:
Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon said Monday he will reject $5 million from President Joe Biden’s administration to shut down certain oil wells in Wyoming.

Gordon doesn’t want any part of President Joe Biden’s plan to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by curtailing oil production.

Gordon announced Monday he will reject $5 million from the Biden administration earmarked to shut down low-volume oil wells, often referred to as stripper wells.

The administration is using federal Inflation Reduction Act money to provide incentives to states to shut down certain oil wells.

Biden’s dog Commander has been removed from the White House, a spokeswoman said Wednesday, after it bit a number of staff members.

The Bidens have sent the two-year-old German Shepherd to an unknown location while they look at “next steps” for the presidential pooch.

The announcement came after CNN and Axios reported that Commander, who arrived at the White House as a cute pup in 2021, had been involved in more biting incidents than previously known.

The Secret Service had acknowledged that 11 of its agents had been nipped, but CNN said the actual number was higher and that the dog had bitten other White House workers too.

“The President and First Lady care deeply about the safety of those who work at the White House and those who protect them every day,” Elizabeth Alexander, communications director for Biden’s wife Jill, said in a statement.

so deeply concerned, that they waited for more than 11 dog bites.

There were no further details of Commander’s location, or whether the move was permanent.

Commander is the second of the Biden’s dogs to be sent away from the White House for biting, after another German Shepherd, Major, was dispatched to live with family friends in Delaware.

I guess sending illegals to DEM cities is working

https://www.foxnews.com/politi...s-immigration-surges

DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is citing an "acute and immediate need" to waive dozens of federal laws to build a border wall in south Texas where illegal migration has surged.

It's a sharp contrast to dismissals of the use of such barriers in the early days of the administration.

The agency posted an announcement on the U.S. Federal Register that outlines construction in Starr County in the Rio Grande Valley Sector, where the administration says there is "high illegal entry." The agency says there have been over 245,000 migrant encounters in the sector this fiscal year.

Mayorkas says he is using his authority provided by Congress to waive 26 federal laws, including the Clean Air Act, Safe Drinking Water Act and Endangered Species Act.

"There is presently an acute and immediate need to construct physical barriers and roads in the vicinity of the border of the United States in order to prevent unlawful entries into the United States in the project areas pursuant to sections 102(a) and 102(b) of [the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996]," Mayorkas said.

is this preparation for the 2024 election ? so they can brag about "border security"

Wait!!!
It was only a few weeks ago that the Biden Admin. was quietly selling off "unused sections of border wall". The border states have been putting up with this for years, but now illegals are putting a strain on a couple Dem run cities in the North, and all of a sudden a wall needs to be built.

And this from just a month ago from the Government Accountability Office, claims that "Trump's border wall caused significant cultural & environmental damage."

Trump*s border wall caused *significant* cultural, environmental damage, watchdog finds
"The border wall championed by President Donald Trump harmed the environment and trampled on Native American cultural sites, according to a report released on Thursday by the Government Accountability Office.

The 450 miles of barrier constructed during Trump*s time in office * one of his highest-profile actions * proceeded by waiving or disregarding environmental and historic preservation laws. But it*s now clear the wall interfered with endangered species, diverted water sources and caused other environmental damage, the federal watchdog said."

*This racist political stunt has been an ineffective waste of billions of American taxpayers* dollars * and now we know it has caused immeasurable, irreparable harm to our environment and cultural heritage as well,* Rep. Raúl Grijalva (D-Ariz.), who requested the report, said in a statement."

All those GOP mayors and governors shipping these illegal invaders right to deep blue sanctuary cities was SUCH a brilliant move. Keep it going!

It really warms my heart to see the Biden regime start to panic over all this.

https://www.breitbart.com/poli...-up-10m-legal-bills/

Hunter Biden reportedly racked up at least $10 million in legal bills over the past five years, as he potentially spends millions more defending himself from an impeachment inquiry and three gun charges.

The legal bills are a combination of fees incurred from the Justice Department’s probe, his divorce, disputed paternity agreement, along with his multitude of lawsuits against his critics, people familiar with the figure told CNN.

Legal experts told Breitbart News in December that Hunter Biden’s high-powered legal defense could cost him more than $100,000 per month.

Critics question how Hunter could afford expensive legal fees month after month while allegedly being strapped for cash. While Joe Biden was vice president, Hunter was nearly penniless, living paycheck to paycheck after out-of-control spending, Hunter’s ex-wife stated.

Not only is Biden going to build more border wall, he is blaming Donald Trump and the Republicans for him having to do it.

https://www.washingtonexaminer...wall-required-by-law

"These funds were appropriated in fiscal 2019 under Republican leadership," press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said. "We believe there are better, more effective ways of moving forward to secure our border, and we have continuously asked for Congress to act."

The Department of Homeland Security has announced it's building the 20 new miles in Texas, despite President Joe Biden's campaign pledge to build "not another foot" if elected.

The news came out last night, though Jean-Pierre says DHS made the allocation back in June. She also said Biden had asked Congress to reallocate the funds, which it refused.

Biden said much the same himself earlier in the day.

"The money was appropriated for the border wall. I tried to get them to reappropriate, to redirect that money. They didn’t," he said. "They wouldn’t. In the meantime, there’s nothing under the law other than they have to use the money for what it was appropriated for. I can’t stop that."

Asked specifically if he thought a border wall would be effective, Biden said, "No."

Despite the White House's apparent reluctance, the border wall announcement comes as immigration has become a weight on the administration. Biden's approval rating on the issue is just 33.6%, and he's facing increased pressure from blue state politicians in New York, Illinois, and the Washington D.C. area thanks to migrants who have flooded those areas via bus.

Jean-Pierre was pressed repeatedly about the border wall during Thursday's press briefing.

Several reporters questioned why the money had to be spent now if it was appropriated four years ago. Jean-Pierre pointed back to needing to comply with the law, though she refused to name which specific law she was referring to.

DHS cited an "acute and immediate need" for the wall due to surging illegal immigration, apparently against the beliefs of the president.

"The president has been very clear about this," Jean-Pierre said. "He doesn't believe the border wall is effective, and that has not changed. That has not changed."

'Terrifying': Resumption of Student Loan Repayments May Force College Grads To Dip Into 'Fun Budget,' Media Warn
quote:
For the first time since President Joe Biden took office, student loan debtors will this month have to pay back some of the money they borrowed from the federal government.

Biden has tried to soften the blow. Since the Supreme Court in June shot down the president's sweeping plan to write off student loan debt, he has nonetheless managed to "forgive" $127 billion of the taxpayer-fronted money for a few million former college students, including $9 billion on Wednesday, per the White House.

Still, the mainstream media have been filled with alarm about hardships and injustices that could result from the resumption of student loan debt collection. Lawyers, former philosophy professors, aerospace defense workers, and university administrators could be among those hardest hit, according to reports. Cutbacks could be required to vacations, restaurant dining, spa days, and other "fun budget" items.

NBC News, Oct. 1: "The 'terrifying' trade-offs millions of Americans face as student loan repayments resume":

Rhiannon Dodds Funke said she and her husband have nearly $1 million in student loan debt. Dodds Funke is a law school graduate and her husband, a former philosophy professor and cancer survivor, recently went back to school to get a law degree to help support their two teenage children. …

"Now to have the student loans stacked on top of it, it's really, really scary. We are going to be living on the brink," she said. "There have been a lot of expenses that we've been trying to tear down to try to prepare for this."

Among those changes, the family recently got rid of cable television and canceled phone lines, and Dodds Funke is going to give up the office space where she practices law and work from home.

Associated Press, Sept. 30: "Borrowers are reassessing their budgets as student loan payments resume after pandemic pause":

Millions of Americans must start repaying their federal student loans again in October, with monthly payments averaging hundreds of dollars. To get ready, borrowers are cutting expenses, taking on additional work, and looking for options to reduce their monthly payments.

Megan McClelland, 38, said she has started asking for October shifts with a catering company and a winery to help supplement her income.

New York Times, Sept. 15: "Will Restart of Student Loan Payments Be the Last Straw for Consumers?"

Biden Nominates Hunter’s Burisma-Linked Associate as Special Counsel

https://slaynews.com/news/bide...ign=daily-newsletter

President Joe Biden has nominated his son Hunter’s former business associate to serve as special counsel.

Biden nominated Hampton Dellinger who previously worked alongside Hunter while he served on the board of Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings.

The White House announced the move in a Tuesday press release.

Dellinger will replace Henry Kerner, whose term as the position’s current occupant expires.

The Office of Special Counsel is primarily responsible for safeguarding the “merit system by protecting federal employees and applicants from prohibited personnel practices, especially reprisal for whistleblowing,” its website states.

Dellinger was previously nominated by Biden as an assistant attorney general overseeing the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Policy.

He held the position between October 2021 and June 2023.

Dellinger, who graduated from Yale Law School, had also previously donated to Biden’s presidential campaign.

Dellinger worked on Boies Schiller Flexner’s Crisis Management and Government Response team while Hunter Biden served as counsel at the firm.

The firm had represented Burisma, where Hunter Biden had served on its board of directors.

Burisma paid Hunter tens of thousands of dollars a month to sit on the board, despite having zero experience in the energy industry.
