I like the concept of high deductible, but the premiums kept getting jacked up higher. If premiums went down then it is a good option.

The plan we had at work put the first $20k on us. Our premiums were about nearly $1k per month, which meant we were obligated to spend $12k even if we never went to the doc, then the next $8k was on us!

Somehow they had figured the math so it was always the first $20k on the employee. The low-deductible plan had really high premiums. So the gamble was whether the family would have a lot of claims or not. If not, go with high deductible.

Obamacare marketplace plans were all inflated price premiums with a tax credit to make them look cheaper. The taxpayer subsidizes those plans. The insurance companies are getting a free ride on our backs.

Couldn't agree with you more. The comment is utterly ridiculous. Before Obamacare, the poor could cobble together various subsidized plans, with no one going without essential medical treatment. This same group now ends up with little or no premium, but racks up thousands in debt annually.

Add children to the equation, a few serious adult illnesses requiring inpatient care, or high tech treatment and diagnostics, and you're deep in the hole. The debt-collection industry is booming.

Instead of "self-insured", you could call this "self-uninsured".

Speaking from the East Room of the White House Thursday night -- shortly before jetting off to the beach in Delaware for the weekend -- President Joe Biden tripled down on his calls for a ban on semi-automatic rifles and repeated the false claim a previous ban from 1994-2004 reduced mass shootings.

President Biden stated that the Second Amendment is “not absolute,” then segued into a gun control push that included at least eight different gun law proposals.

video at:

https://twitter.com/i/status/1532510137134600192

Here are a list of Biden’s proposed gun controls:

Ban “Assault Weapons”
Ban ‘high capacity” magazines.
If banning is not possible, then raise purchase age for AR-15s and similar rifles to 21
“Strengthen background checks”
“Enact [a] safe storage law”
“red flag law”
“Repeal the immunity of gun manufacturers from liability.”
Address the mental health crisis

Biden elaborated on the “assault weapons” ban proposal, saying that the previous ban (1994-2004) specifically banned “nine categories of semiautomatic weapons, like AK-47s and AR-15s.”

He added, “We should limit how many rounds a weapon can hold? Why in God’s name should an ordinary citizen be able to purchase an ‘assault weapon’ that holds 30 rounds magazines that let mass shooters fire hundreds of bullets in a matter of minutes?”

He said, “I also believe we should have safe storage laws and personal liability for not locking up your gun.”

He added, “If you own a weapon, you have a responsibility to secure it….if you don’t [lock it up] and something bad happens you should be held responsible.”

“For so many of you at home, I want to be very clear, this is not about taking away anyone’s guns,” Biden said before announcing he wanted to ban all “assault weapons” including AK-47s and AR-15s as well as magazines holding 30 rounds.

“I respect the culture, tradition, the concerns of lawful gun owners,” he claimed.

Biden’s speech quickly turned sharply partisan as he blamed Republicans for blocking gun control proposals.

“My God. The fact that the majority of the Senate Republicans don’t want any of these proposals even to be debated or come up for a vote, I find unconscionable,” he said. “We can’t fail the American people again.”

'Any' Repub senator who might have even considered discussing this topic prior to this BS should completely refuse after this moronic diatribe. I can't believe I actually sat through the entire thing tonight.

And just to dovetail onto the back of Biden's verbal stupidity tonight, this black attention whore in the House saw a chance for some attention today and went for it. These people are simply ridiculous children. If this clown wants my guns, I'm more than willing to email him my address and what time I'll be home tomorrow so he can come see me about it.

Biden’s handlers must know of the red tsunami coming in November because pushing unpopular gun control crap 5 months before a crucial mid-term election is just blindingly stupid. Roll Eyes

I listened to Bidens speech. The most galling thing he said was that the rights set forth in the Constitution are not "absolute". All the Americans who fought, bled and died to see it endures would disagree. Mad

It’s getting to the point where I can’t keep up with how many ways Biden is screwing up this country. His anti 2A rants are so tiresome now. His foreign policy is a disaster, with us possibly facing a two front war with Russia and China. The energy policy of his administration is the worst imaginable. Border security is practically gone. Supply chain problems seem intractable. To top it off, is he were to keel over dead tomorrow, we would have the prosect of Kamala Harris in the White House. I can’t stand the sight of the man.

He’s just the puppet, the guy who reads whatever his handlers order him to read. I’m really surprised they would be pushing hard for gun control right now as it ALWAYS results in disaster for Democrats, I think they are rushing to get as much done now before they lose the House and Senate later this year.

I’m actually tickled that they are, and if you look back I predicted they would push gun control sometime this year. I hope they go as far as pushing door to door confiscation.

Time to stop messing around and rip that bandaid off. The Dems need to eat every bit of this in November.

Oh boy Eek

Now seeing reports that Biden is allegedly blaming his staff around him for all the inflation mess and keeping him in the dark about it.

Claims he didn’t know about the baby formula crisis until like two weeks ago, does this guy not have a TV? Or is he just so addled with dementia that he’s out of it most of the time?

I suspect the latter

I really miss how Trump never, ever blamed his predecessors or made excuses about anything. Just said “we are going to fix this!”

And he did.

My memory is better than some and worse than most, but even I remember BHO commenting on events he HAD TO BE AWARE of, and saying he just saw it on the news or read about it in a paper... Slow Joe is doing the EXACT SAME THING he learned from BHO in an very weak attempt to transfer "responsibility".

Personally, I think its even more stupid to push gun control 'now' than in the past. Due to government's almost complete failures on every level, gun ownership is now more bipartisan than it ever has been, so attacking gun owners now means they are attacking a larger group than ever before. But they got nothing for November, and are grabbing at anything around them to try and stay afloat.

Democrats playbook is to blame the previous administration for all the ills. They never take the blame for anything.

For,example, our great Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm. The first four years in office she blamed everything on the previous Republican Governor. After her re-election (she really didn’t accomplish anything in the first term) she still blamed the previous Governor. At some point you would assume that she would have taken ownership of the failures she created, but no, just blame others.

Just like she does now.

In other words the Saudis told Biden to go pound sand.

Biden has no ‘direct plans’ to visit Saudi Arabia at the end of the month

U.S. President Joe Biden shoots down reports on that he is planning an official visit to Saudi Arabia at the end of June.

https://www.israelnationalnews.com/news/354378

U.S. President Joe Biden shot down reports on Friday that he was planning an official visit to Saudi Arabia at the end of June.

The trip would have ended Saudi Arabia's "pariah status" it had earned for the killing of U.S.-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul.

Biden had referred to Saudi Arabia with the term "pariah" when he was a presidential candidate in November 2019 during a debate.

“I have no direct plans at the moment. But let me tell you I have been engaged in trying to work with how we can bring more stability and peace in the Middle East,” Biden said.

“There is a possibility that I would be going to meet with both the Israelis and some Arab countries... I expect Saudi Arabia would be included in that if I did go. But I have no direct plans at the moment.”

When asked by a reporter if “King Salman was still a pariah in your eyes,” Biden responded:

“Look, I’m not going to change my view on human rights. But as president of the United States my job is to bring peace if I can, and that’s what I’m going to try to do."

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested former White House economic adviser Peter Navarro on Friday, acting on a referral from the Democrat-run House that held him in contempt for refusing to testify at the partisan January 6 Committee.

"He is currently in custody, according to the US attorney's office in DC."
