I should listen to your ramblings more seriously. Like your distaste of things electric and how SF members are going woke. Like your thoughtful insights on electric vehicles and lawn equipment. It started out with me purchasing an electric weed eater. And now I’m attracted to other men. I didn’t notice it at first. I thought by buying electric I might keep from the motor being as hot in the summer and wouldn’t have to deal with spring carborator issues. So mid last summer, I purchased an Ego weed eater. The spool load function was awesome. But, then I began to notice it. I started commenting to other men on how good their shoes looked. I purchased an Ego push mower. I started listening to Black Sabbath albums backwards. Then I purchased a 16 inch Ego chainsaw and started whistling show tunes. I’m totally out of control. No carburetor issues. Not external heat issues. Not having to purchase gas and oil, and I’m not noticing an increase in my electric bill. I should have listened to your wise counsel against the evils of going electric. Now, I guess I’ll just have to sit here and count the money I saved. Oh well. | |||

I bought an Ego string trimmer last year, primarily for ease of use for my wife and the auto line feed feature. Maybe mine was defective but I still have no desire to purchase an electric chainsaw and love to use my Husqvarna 550XP Mark 2 gas chainsaw. I even kept my bigger Stihl trimmer for the heavier duty work. I really don’t care much about shoes and still dislike show tunes. All kidding and joking aside, that EGo trimmer really is great. For regular old around the house use, I can’t imagine that anyone would need anything more. Not having to deal with gassing it up, worrying bout cleaning a carb after winter, manually spooling line, etc is really nice and the performance is great. For the area around my pond where I need something heavier duty I’ve got my Stihl bicycle handle heavy duty trimmer that I usually run with a metal brush blade, but I’m pleased with the addition of the EGo trimmer. It also makes it nice because I can mow the lawn while my wife trims without me having to start a gas trimmer for her or restart if she sets it down, etc. If I could buy a made in USA version, even at twice or more the price, I would. I too would pay more for made in USA or Europe or anyplace other than China. But corporate America really sold out and there really isn’t much day to day stuff that is still made here. I tend to looks to European brands next. But generally have to settle for made in Asia. Some is okay. I die a little each time I’m forced to buy something made in prc. You’re right. I didn’t even notice. I was just responding to recent posts. Sorry. I’ve noticed a number of brew pubs around whose prices are a little higher and also less busy than before. One thing I noticed, and I’ve been okay to date, is that instead of raising prices dramatically, seems like they are asking for default tips of 20%. I’m okay so far - restaurant is taking a hit on margins but asking customers to give more in tips for the wait staff to make up for less customers. I want to keep my favorites in business so will do what I can. But a double hit of raised prices and more tips may be a challenge for my budget. That's too bad about the diner. In my opinion though, it may be a combination of other things including the higher prices. I had noticed in the last 1-2 months, the crowd at my VFW for our weekly Friday night dinners had gotten smaller. I didn’t connect the dots until now. Perhaps fewer people ( live in an area with a large number of possibly fixed income retirees) see fit to eat out and see it as a luxury out of the budget. We have always tried to offer a hearty meal at a good price, and our commander recently posted a sign indicating price increases due to increased supply costs. | |||
