We seem to have 2 seasons here in S Texas, January 21st and the rest of the year. Gonna be back up to 73 this weekend, so back to normal so to speak.

Took the dog for a quick walk this morning, brushed her coat real quick in the yard. Had to run downtown for a deposition for work. Hopped back in my squad car to head back to the south side- about a 45 min drive with traffic... the heat was out in the car until about 5 blocks away from my house. Rode with the window slightly down so the car wouldn't fog up.

it was -2F.

Yes, because in a weather emergency, what you will need is French toast.

For a second there I though you said the state of Florida was closed.

We expect to reopen if it ever gets warm again.

Mid-40s here, snow nearly gone from the yard, roofs slowly clearing.

Snowmen in the back yard are still standing, for now.

If you toast the French member of the Donner party, it's nearly the same thing, right?

NOLA got ~8 inches. Over here near Pensacola we got 9+ inches. Crushed the all time record set in 1895. I have 2+ acres including some woods and a creek. was so quiet and beautiful down there yesterday when coming down. Took a few lovely pics of the house just covered in snow. may use as a Christmas card picture as a funny. I need a better photo hosting.

But yeah, entire FL western panhandle losing their minds. Closed schools in my county ALL WEEK ?! A lot of snow not in the shade has already melted. Will be cold and freezing again tonight so ice tomorrow on roads may be an issue.

Spent 5 winters in Alaska ( Ft. Greely / Delta Junction /Fairbanks )... Since fall of 1979 have lived near Baton Rouge, Louisiana....This event would have been laughed at because we were prepaired for it... Not like down here in south Louisiana where we have been shut down for a good 3 1/2 days...We stayed inside because if the local idiots cannot drive on clean and dry roads then going to be safe and away from them....Especially the 4 wheel / all wheel drive vehicles people have no common sense and get themselves in trouble.................... drill sgt.
